The music was way too loud in the middle of the day but it's good for a quick bite and to move on. We asked about the manager if he could turn the music down but they didn't understand us because the music was too loud.
Pleasant vibe, great views and amazing food! Plenty of vegetarian options are available.. we tried the fried brussel sprouts, the famous spinach and artichoke dip, cheese quesadilla and the sweet and spicy chicken! The cocktails were decent.. not too strong but had a good taste. My cousin loved their blue moon beer! The outdoor seating with views of the Hudson river and NYC is great to have during the summer months.
There is limited parking available on the road opposite but there is also paid parking available 5 mins away.
My sister is in town from Florida. We were walking around Hoboken and this was the first restaurant along the waterfront that we stopped at. Decent crowd but definitely not crowded. It was about 2:30PM. We had the French Onion Soup, Chips & Dip, and Cheeseburgers. The soup was great, even if a bit spicy! Never had spicy French Onion before. The chips were fine and the burgers were very good. We didn't realize until we were halfway done that the waiter gave my sister my burger (well done) and gave me her burger (medium) but it wasn't that big of a deal. I felt more sorry for my sister, who really wanted the medium burger. Anyway, not a huge deal. Our server was nice and friendly. Around 3PM the music in the place got VERY LOUD and from that moment on we literally could not have a conversation anymore. It was so loud that it was distorted and didn't even sound good. Oh well, we finished our meal, paid and left. Overall, we enjoyed it.
The food was amazing and the environment is good, but unfortunately the service was disappointing which made the experience not good at all! Cassie/Katie (not sure) came first at our table and the first think she asked was for our ID's without even saying "hi" to us, never asked us if we were okay and every time one of us asked for something she didn't even let us finish the sentence. We asked her for stuff and she always went back to her cellphone and vape before grabbing what we asked for. We were a table of 4 and the bill came with a 20% gratuity included for "large party" and when I asked the server to take it out she denied. The Tavern is great but needs to have better service. And also, charging for a mayo sauce is crazy, never seen that before.
Myself and 2 friends went for happy hour. Not only did it take 20 min to put a drink order in, but another 30 minutes to order food. Our server seemed more interested in what was happening at the bar than taking care of our table, which BTW was in the bar area. Mind you the bar was by no means busy, it was 4pm. Not only was our food Luke warm, but the wait time and lack of service was annoying. When we asked for the bill after another long wait, we were charged a whopping $247 and change!!! Huh!!!! Apparently because we order $100 worth of food and drink we were considered a "large" party therefore was charged a service fee for "large party"..... there were 3 of us.
Now I don't mind tipping well when service is on point, but empty bar, being ignored and cold food does not warrant a"large party service fee" again there was only 3 of us...
Yeah....no thanks won't be visiting again.
Great spot for spending an afternoon with my friends. However, the music inside is way too loud. Even though you sit outside you can still hear it. Service is fast enough. Nachos was big enough and the chicken wrap is tasty with blue cheese sauce. It's not cool that they don't have prices on the beer menu. Felt suspicious. I'l go there again.
You can't really beat the happy hour deals here, particularly for drinks. They have a good selection of beer for $3 each, as well as mixed drinks. The mixed drinks were a bit watered down, but that was expected given the price. They also have a bunch of appetizers available for $5 each. Pretzels had too much salt but it's easy to brush some off, mozzerella sticks were good, chicken quesadilla was good, chicken tenders were thin but worked well with the sauce, and the wings were ok. The booths also have small TV's for you to have a closeup view of whatever game is on. Overall, great place to drink beer for a couple of hours with okay food without breaking the bank.
The burger patty was the worst part of the entire meal. The patty was brittle, flavorless & i found a huge artery in it as i chewed on it. I asked for well done & it was still pink. I let the waitress know, she told me she was going to remove it from my bill but she never did. I will never eat here again, i will come back for drinks.
