I decided to come here due to the reviews on YELP and it looked delicious so I said why not?
The service is very very welcoming right away was hit with 2 people coming over to where I sat down and offered me the menu, pickled cucumber. Then the little sides came first.
The meat came next and it was all well cooked. But the miso soup that was the wow factor. I devoured everything it was all very delicious. The sauce as well I believe she said it was a garlic / ginger sauce. But it elevated the meat and veggies.
The atmosphere is chill no loud music, just sound of the cook cooking and people talking but not loud.
This place is a must-try, I’ll be hitting this up a lot more. In short: AMAZING tempura.
It’s been a long time since I found tempura I enjoy so much and have never found such a light, flavorful tempura in Hawaii before. Kiki serves the tempura as they are ready so you also never deal with the oil making your food soggy or having to rush to eat. Each piece comes hot and crunchy but stays light and fluffy while you make your way through the meal.
Prices are reasonable, especially for a Waikiki spot, and there’s easy take out options too. We tried the meat set and vegetable set. Vegetable comes with a shiitake - highly recommend!
Staff is very friendly, restaurant is always clean, and service is quick. 5 stars no question.
The food, service, and atmosphere here is immaculate.The service was amazing, our waitress greeted us with such a friendly smile and took our order right away. The food is amazing as well. We ordered the shrimp tendon and meat tendon. The batter is light but crispy. Squid was so soft and yummy. We paired it with the unlimited pickled veggies and it just elevate the texture and taste of the food.
Hands down best tempura in Oahu. Very authentic in terms of presentation, portions, taste and courteous staff. I highly recommend it for the relaxing atmosphere and value. Go with friends and enjoy!
We ordered the Kiki Set, which comes with tempura pork, squid, fish and various veggies. I have never had tempura fish and pork and I really enjoyed it and wish I was able to eat this more often! We also added tempura eel, which I have never had before and this tasted very fresh. All the seafood tastes fresh and not fishy.
This prompted us to try their tempura wagyu and was the peak of our meal! It was cooked medium and so tender to chew. We enjoyed it with the tempura sauce and the tendon sauce that they provide.
Another added feature is that they have chili salt and matcha salt available to try!
Super light tempura served in “courses” so that the fried meats and vegetables don’t get cold or soggy! There are a variety of Tendon bowls, or tempura served over rice, or you can order the tempura à la cart.
Located in the Stix Asia food hall in Waikiki, the restaurant has limited tables, so if you’re with a big party, you may be split up. It’s also quite popular, so be prepared for a wait during prime lunch and dinner times.
Parking is an available at Waikiki Shopping Plaza if you spend $35 or more, which is easy to do if you’re dining with two or more.
Tempura Kiki was awesome. This was the 2nd time we’ve been here. This time was even better than the 1st. The tempura a light and crispy. I love how they serve it in two courses so it doesn’t get soggy. The staff was helpful and prompt. When you spend $35 or more you can get your parking validated. We will be back.
