Really enjoyed our meal at Schmidt’s. Two plates of bottomless sausages for the boys and cabbage rolls for me.
I would give the deep fried pretzels bites a grease soaked miss. Knockwurst and Bratwurst came out at the favourites. Bottomless sides would be nice and worth an additional cost.
The sauerkraut was the best I’ve ever had. The red mashed potatoes excellent. The cabbage rolls lacked depth of flavour and were poorly wrapped so you didn’t get a good cabbage/filling bite.
I would definitely recommend going here if you love German food. The live music is fun, the lighting is harshly bright, some softness would really enhance the experience.
Was in a quaint place. The atmosphere was nice, brick roads outside to drive there. Parking was plentiful along the road and there was a dedicated lot.
Food was fine, got the curry wurst to start. It had a nice kick with fries and sausage. Got the Weiner schnitzel with an egg added as the entree. The mushroom gravy was good and had a generous serving of meat. Potato pancakes were very flavorful with apple sauce to top them on the side .
It was very busy and they looked a bit short staffed, but they did they best they could and the staff was all very kind.
It has been years since I have been to Schmidt's Sausage Haus, so I jumped at the chance to go again.
I had never had Weiner Schnitzel before, and felt this was an opportunity to try it. It was hot, crispy, and well seasoned. The mushroom gravy was a nice balance item, as well as the German Potato Salad.
I added a seasonal flavor (churro) of their famous Cream Puffs, which was a nice finish to the meal.
Our server was positive and attentive, and was double duty at the bar as well. The atmosphere is casual, inviting, and bathes you in the history of this German Village mainstay.
At Schmidt’s Sausage House, I indulged in a diverse array of German-inspired dishes, including bratwurst balls, chicken schnitzel, and a vanilla/chocolate cream puff.
The bratwurst balls were decent, but they didn't leave a lasting impression. While enjoyable, they were not something I'd crave or feel compelled to order again.
The chicken schnitzel offered a satisfying bite, but the $18 price tag felt a bit steep for what was delivered. It was good, but not exceptional enough to justify the cost.
Unfortunately, the vanilla cream puff left much to be desired. The pastry lacked flavor, and the vanilla cream tasted disappointingly like pudding. The chocolate cream fared better, but even that couldn't fully redeem the lackluster pastry. Perhaps with a better base, it could have shone.
On the bright side, the service was commendable, with no complaints in that department. And while I only had a bite of sausage, I did find it enjoyable.
Overall, Schmidt’s Sausage House offers a solid dining experience, but considering the 30-minute wait and the price point of $20+ per head, it may not be the most enticing option for those seeking value for money. There are certainly other dining establishments to explore.

Without a doubt, this restaurant is a hidden gem for food lovers, offering a culinary journey that is sure to satisfy even the most discerning palate.
I love those type of places, full with history and traditions. This place is amazing, excellent food and service. When we got there it was a line, but they manage it to sit us sooner. You need to try the cream puffs, they are the best. I truly recommend it!
Very popular spot for German cuisine. You can see the current wait time and add your name to the wait list online before you arrive. We came on a Sunday afternoon, and the wait was about an hour.
I ordered the Bavarian ham and cheese sandwich with German potato salad. My food was all really good and I would get it again! My husband ordered the chicken schnitzel, and his food was not as good. The chicken had good flavor but was very chewy. The spätzle was barely warm.
Service was good, and the overall atmosphere was great. We would give it another try.
A warm and inviting environment for this blistering cold winter day in Ohio. It was nestled in the cutest area with little shops and what looked to be original brick roadways. Such a great find! The food was delicious and comforting like a warm embrace from grandma as you thank her for cooking the Sunday family meal. The sauerkraut and bratwurst balls were delicious! Paired with a creamy mustard, it was the great way to start the meal and it came out fast too! They were very lightly breaded and didn’t leave a greasy feeling like most fried foods do. I tried the hunter schnitzel. The mushroom gravy was savory and delicious complimenting the thinly breaded pork lion. The German potato salad was flavorful and not too vinegary like ones I have had in the past. The red cabbage was tender, sweet, warm and had the right amount of vinegar. Be careful not to inhale as you take your first bite (speaking from experience) the vinegar will hit the back of your throat. The red cabbage compliments the schnitzel very well with the vinegar cutting what would otherwise be a food coma inducing dish. There was even room for cream puffs!( which 6 people shared) The cream puffs were very light and refreshing. My favorite was the coffee! It was the perfect thing to end the meal with.
