Enjoyed their seafood paella, papa a la huancaina, and lomo saltado. We also got a pitcher of chica morada, a purple corn and pineapple drink. It tasted like neither and more like a herbal drink. Huge portions for a very affordable price, around $20 per person and all left very full. However, the fries could be crispier, and the beef more tender in the lono saltado.
A small and friendly establishment, would definitely come back to try other items on the menu.
I moved into the neighborhood a while back, and I’ve been meaning to try Taste of Peru for a long time and I finally took the time and visited. It was a great experience, the staff was very friendly and answered any questions I had. The space is small but it doesn’t feel cramped. The energy and ambiance is calming. Also the food was Amazing! I can’t wait to go back and visit.
Unassuming spot that boasts of both being featured in Diner's, Drive-ins and Dives and Michelin guides.
Great menu of very traditional Peruvian cuisine with enough options that the average Midwesterner can easily find something for their palate as well.
The Lomo Saltado is a great safe choice with delicious flavor (steak and French fries) and I look forward to trying out other great options I sampled with friends.
It's BYOB so it's easy to run by and grab something to drink if one desires
Likely one of the worst ceviches I've ever had. The side of yuca were dry, burned to a crisp in some parts, no sauce. The causa was probably the best out of the tree. Size was too large and although that may sound good, causa is not supposed to be a large serving, it is not able to be executed well at a large serving size. The woman taking the orders seemed upset to be working there. At a $50 price tag for the meal, you can instead go to any restaurant and have a better meal.
We came on a weekday lunch and service was quite slow since there was only one waitress working. We got ceviche and tamal as appetizers to share. Our waitress brought out aji for the table and it was amazing: spicy, tangy, and fresh. Everyone loved the tamal and agreed and it had great texture and flavors. However, the corvina in ceviche did not taste fresh to me and was tough to chew. I got the pollo saltado and was so impressed with the dish. The chicken was incredibly tender and juicy. The dish was simple yet incredibly flavorful. Portion size here was huge so everyone ended up with leftovers.
I really love to eat there the service is very good and the food is always good. For the first time we tried a sea food plate and I'm in love, with papas a la huancaína and lomo salteado.
Ate here on the first night after my move to Chicago. Probably some of the best pesto spaghetti I've ever had in my life. My buddy who came with me absolutely loved it too. Will be coming here again. Will be bringing my friends here.
The food was delicious as was the lime Peruvian mocktail. Would definitely go again.
