Go every time I'm in Chicago. Best local Chicago fare. Ordering was quick. Hot food came quickly, but a wait for our salads. Ended up eating hot dogs while we waited. But they were very delicious when they arrived. Highly recommend.
Great dogs! Ordered the beef hot dogs with small fries and onion rings. Don't forget the side of cheese sauce! It's definitely worth it! Everything is better with cheese! Onion rings had a great crunch to them; very tasty. Fantastic atmosphere. You seat yourselves, and we had to wipe our table clean, but I highly recommend overall.
Food was delicious! This place was highly recommended and I can absolutely agree! When visiting Chicago, this place is a must. Even the dessert is amazing, in particular we got the lemon cake.
It wasn't mentioned if you purchase a dessert alone, you don't have to wait for your number to be called. Instead, you go up to the counter and let them know you ordered a dessert. Waited nearly 30 minutes for a slice of cake.

I was pleasantly surprised by this Chicago classic spot! With everyone recommending it, we knew we had to give it a try. We opted for the Chicago-style hot dog, and let me tell you, it exceeded our expectations! The quality of the bread and the perfectly balanced toppings made it a standout dish. You've got to try it!
And the famous chocolate cake lived up to its reputation as the best chocolate cake I've ever had. Seriously, don't miss out on it.
The location itself is cool, with ample seating available. Service was efficient, and everything came out surprisingly fast. Overall, a great experience that I highly recommend!
I ate my best hotdog here???? With everyone recommended it I knew I need give it a try and this place did not disappoint! I ordered classic Chicago hot dog and was impressed of the abundance of veggies and sauce and lightness of the bun. All together with a sausage it tasted incredibly balanced and delicious. My husband ordered garden dogs that is the same but with plant based sausage and loved them too. The only thing about them - we had to wait extra 15-20 minutes because probably they take more time to make. The Greek salad was good too! Not traditional though as they add grilled chicken to it. The restaurant is spacious so even big parties had no problem to make themselves comfortable. Definitely join the Portillo’s fun club and will be missing these hotdogs a lot!
I placed an order online for pickup. Be sure to check that your order is complete before leaving. I was missing items from my order but only found out once I returned to my hotel.
The Italian beef sandwich was my favorite! Make sure to get extra gravy!
The ribs were melt in your mouth delicious, highly recommend it!

Chicago hot dog was definitely interesting to try. I ordered the jumbo size but it looked like a regular sized hot dog.
My son and I are driving across the country and taking the Northern route.
Because I was going through Minnesota, we stopped to meet a friend at the Portillo's in Maple Grove Minnesota. My son wanted to try this place and he was very happy with his two choices.
He ordered the Portillo's beef hot dog and he ordered the Italian beef sub with hot peppers.
I ordered a Portillo's beef hot dog with mustard only and I enjoyed it. I am usually not a big hot dog fan, so I can't say this hot dog was much better than any other hot dog I have had, but the experience was more important for me.
I love the atmosphere and the space of the restaurant.
If you have NEVER been to Chicago, I highly recommend visiting this place. Before you go inside, take in the view of the place from the outside. I would then make sure you look at the menu ahead of time.
Once you enter do not look around...follow the path and get in line. The greeter wants you to get out the way and in the line. Then make sure someone else in the group grabs a table. If you visit at the wrong time, I can see this place being jam packed and no place to sit. Once you get up to order be ready because they are in a rush as well. The place reminded me of NYC...move move move or they will move you out the way.
I waited awhile for my food...guess the veggie dog takes longer to get ready. I wished I had tried other things on the menu but it was my 1st meal in Chicago and I was alone and had no clue what will be next.
Once you order and grab your spot, then take in the views and decor. The place had everything and anything you can think of...it was like a mini Vegas spot.
This is a must place to try and have at least one dog the Chicago way. It's a quick bite to eat and you will leave happy.
