Festive Saturday night in December, after strolling the Sawdust art festival, we came in around 6 pm. Had reservations, for later, but we were seated right away. We were so decked out in our holiday attire that the manager sent over a couple of glass dome-covered smoking tequila drinks! An unexpected delight! All four of us enjoyed most wonderful service and scrumptious meals. Special thanks to Daniel and Nino. For me, Carnitas rule supreme! We will be back.
I really enjoyed my time here. I highly recommend the short rib enchiladas. Super delish! The fajitas were OK. Our waitress, Rodi, was the BEST. Great service and recommendations. She was very professional, sweet and enthusiastic. Do yourself a favor and ask for Rodi for an elevated experience. Thank you, Carmelita’s team. We’ll be back soon! ????
Very good food and very good service, our waitress, Rodi, was absolutely the best.
Delicious food!! We were seated immediately and served high quality taste with not much wait. I highly recommend for good quality Mexican food!!
The food was really great! We ordered the seafood trio, which isn't available in the menu anymore, but they were kind enough to accommodate us. It was ????. We also enjoyed the La Tampiquena and the churros dessert. The service is a little bit slower than how we would like but not too big of a deal. Overall, we'll be back here if we ever visited Laguna Beach again.
Truly an incredible experience!! We never had to wait for a refill of water or chips. And, wow, was the food spectacular!!! The guacamole, main dishes, and churro dessert were nothing short of delicious and filling. Definitely will be coming back for more next time we’re in Laguna Beach. Thank you, Carmelita’s!!!
If there's one thing I've learned from Carmelita's Mexican restaurant in Laguna Beach, it's that good things come to those who wait. And wait we did! The hostess seemed to have perfected the art of giving dirtier looks than a toddler who just discovered mud pies. But hey, we're all human, right? Maybe she just needed a jalapeño margarita to spice up her day! Speaking of margaritas, Carmelita's knows how to shake things up. Their Jalapeño margarita and cucumber margarita were like a fiesta in my mouth. Sipping on those concoctions made the wait seem like a distant memory. Note to self: always order two margaritas, one for each hand.
Carmelita's holds the torch for some of the best Mexican cuisine in Laguna Beach. From the first bite, you can taste the authentic Mexican touch in every dish. However, be warned: they don't mess around with the spice level. If you're not a fan of fiery flavors, approach with caution. But if you're like me and enjoy a culinary adventure, buckle up!
Among the sizzling selection, the beef flautas stood out like a salsa dancer in a sea of sombreros. These little rolls of joy were bursting with flavor, and each bite transported me to the streets of Mexico. The crispy shell, the tender beef, the perfect blend of spices—it was a symphony of deliciousness.
Sure, the wait might have been longer than an episode of a Netflix series, and the hostess could use a crash course in customer service. But once you lay your taste buds on the food at Carmelita's, all will be forgiven. Just sit back, sip on a margarita, and let the Mexican magic unfold before your eyes. ¡Buen provecho!
The food was good. The service was great. I thought it was pricey, but I guess it's to be expected for the location. $15 for some guac and $21 for 2 enchiladas seemed a bit steep. We were on vacation so we enjoyed our dinner, but being Mexican myself, I kept thinking "I can totally make this myself." Anyway, I would recommend this place, just expect to pay high prices for a little bit of food.
