The reason I didn't give 5 stars is the ridiculously tiny amount they give you for appetizers. It is a complete rip off. They have great service, great pizza and free pool. But definitely super chinsy on the appetizers. I opened my food when I got home and there was almost nothing in the boxes. Looked like my family already ate. Barely a serving for 1 person.
Everything was really good. We had burgers & chicken fingers this time w/their hand cut special fries which were amazing! It was nice if they were open on a Sunday afternoon. The people sitting next was had pizza that looked delicious. Happy to have this new restaurant opened in this building/location.
Vastly improved from previous ownership, as we live just down the road, but had stopped even going in there. Now, it looks way better inside, and I wasn't even apprehensive when ordering food! The place seemed cleaned up quite a bit. The staff was friendly and prompt, though they weren't very busy at that time, and the food wasn't half bad. The biggest downfall, in my opinion, would be the low quantity of deep-fried mushrooms or pickles for the $7.50ish price tag. But if thats the worst problem at a Northern Michigan pub, I'd say they must be doing pretty good!
I got a pizza for take out on Thursday night, it was mushroom and bacon. The mushrooms were canned and the bacon was weird, chewy and thick. I took a bite of my second slice of pizza and found it had a bone shard in it ????. I‘m just thankful my 2 year old didn’t end up with that slice. Other than the canned mushrooms, weird “bacon”, and the bone shard, the pizza was good, however, I do not feel comfortable ever ordering from here again.
Enjoyed our get together! Met with friends from grade school. Fun at Black River Bar with great service...excellent pizza! Class of 1971...AHS! (That gave our age away..lol)
Great local small pub with excellent pizza and friendly service. Reminds me of a small town bar we used to frequent when I was a kid.
The staff is wonderful! We love the food & drinks. The pizza is my favorite. The burgers & chicken are great too. Karaoke nights are fun.
