I got a bacon cheeseburger for $13. It doesn't come with fries, just chips and a pickle. For that price they should give you fries or onion rings! The hamburger was the toughest, hard to chew hamburger I've ever had! $4 for a soda from the tap! Don't go there for food. It's more of a party place. Overpriced poor quality food
In town for the eclipse and found this great place! Had a delicious breakfast with excellent service. Looks like lunch or dinner would be just as good with several classic homey options.
The portions have gotten smaller, but that's probably a good thing. In any event, the food was delicious -- I had the smashburger & fries.
Service was great but menu was deceiving. A $13.99 bacon cheeseburger which I found high for small town Maine turned into an $18.99 burger. I didn't realize when they asked if I wanted fries or onion ringwith it was extra. Any other reputable restaurant they would be included or at least told they were not. Two cokes were 8 bucks. This is not New York City herd where you expect to get ripped off..
Came here for Breakfast and was delighted. Prices weren't bad either. Took awhile to be seated and served as well as being checked on. Other than that it was great.
I was driving trough Dover Foxcroft earlier today, a quintessential New England town tucked away in the northern woods of Maine. I saw this place and decided to stop in for breakfast. I was greeted by Abi, a friendly waitress who told Me she would be right with Me. I sat down at the "food bar" and asked if they had Steak and Eggs, she told Me yes, I told her how I wanted it, and headed to the little boys room.
Upon My return Abi tells Me "I hope your not in a rush, we were out of steaks, but I sent a guy to the market, he should be back in a few moments." I paused, shocked at the reply, "You sent him to the store for My steak? Really?" She laughed and said, "Why yes! I told the cook "He seemed so excited we had steak, Im not going to disappoint him now!"
I mean, who does that anymore? 99.9% percent of servers would have said "Sorry, no steak today, so sorry, sucks being you, better luck on your next request." But not at the Bear Den!
A few moments later My savor returns from the market with My steak and it hit the grill. Before I knew it, I was enjoying My steak and eggs while Abi busily "scratched her way to riches". She checked on me a few times, and refilled my coffee. Through My entire stay she was the Waitress we all dream about, experienced, attentive, excellent sense of humor and witty.
The service was excellent, portions and quality of the food was very good. Excellent value for the money.
In a world full of Karen's and plain nasty plastic people, it was wonderful to find a place that goes the extra mile for their patrons tucked away in a small town in Maine. I hope to return soon.
Poor poor... Undercooked onion rings, odd tasting tomato bisque, also almost cold. Server asked about the temp but I knew I wasn't going to eat it so I declined. Friendly server and the service was good.
Went for dinner last night, went inside no one was inside. Waited for a waiter no service, Three bikers came in went to the bar in back waitress came to the kitchen said she would be over in a minute. Then she went in the bar and was flirting with the bikers. We waited fifteen more minutes and no service so we got up and left. We always leave Fifteen dollars for a tip when we go out for dinner, but the waitress only cared about the thee bikers. Hope they left her a good tip. The owner should be proud of their work staff !
