I recently enjoyed a visit to Backyard Barbecue and tried their vinegar-based barbecue sauce. While the overall experience earned a solid 4 stars out of 5, there were a few highlights and areas for improvement. The pork shoulder had a pleasant touch, though slightly more tenderness would have been ideal.

In terms of flavor, I found the vinegar-based barbecue sauce to be unique and tangy, but it didn't quite match up to the richness I had experienced on a previous visit. Nevertheless, the sauce still added a zesty kick to the dish.

On a positive note, the sides were a delightful surprise. The potato salad and coleslaw were both standout choices, boasting a well-balanced blend of flavors that complemented the main course. Their creaminess and freshness were certainly appreciated.

Overall, Backyard Barbecue offered a satisfying dining experience. While the pork shoulder could have been a touch more tender and the sauce slightly more robust in flavor, the excellence of the sides redeemed the meal. I'd gladly return for their flavorful sides and the hope of rediscovering that exceptional richness I had encountered before.

I have absolutely loved Backyard BBQ for years, and that hasn’t changed with its new ownership! Apryl and the girls are very sweet, the food is a 10/10, and it has the best family atmosphere all together. I recommend anyone and everyone coming into Monroe County to eat here, it is a staple!

Stopped here as we were getting hangry and oh my goodness it was so good!! If I didn't live 5 hours away I'd be coming back daily to try each different thing!!!

My friend had the chicken sandwich and it disappeared rather quickly. I had the country ribs. So good!!

First time in the area, and we're so glad we stumbled in; we were drawn by the smoke! The bbq meats (shoulder, chop, ribs, and loin) were juicy, well seasoned, and delicious. We had four sides, including baked beans, green beans , potato salad, and vinegar slaw; again, all seasoned well and delicious. We were advised by the long line of customers that we couldn't leave without fried pie and sweet tea. I'm so glad we listened to them! The ladies working were all helpful with recommendations and very friendly. Finally, the hot bbq sauce was HOT to my husband's delight... he's still trying to figure out what the secret recipe is!

I would normally rate this very high, but we had a hamburger yesterday that we wasn't crazy about. The patty was really thick and dry.

Great small town barbecue with excellent service and lots of charm. Small and endearing dining area, if you like mom and pop cooking and local "greasy spoons" this is for you!

I had over 20 orders that I called in at a little after 10am. They had them delivered by 1120am to Glasgow. Food was delicious.

Service was fast and food was very delicious if I had to rate it out of 10 I’d say it’s a good 100,000 best bbq I’ve had in my life friendly staff ❤️
