Best WLM Reviews

Old Ebbitt Grill was recommended by a friend and it was great. The atmosphere is awesome. The southern fried chicken was tasty and the fries were very good. The service was top-notch. The location, just steps from the White House, is perfect. Highly recommend for anyone visiting DC.
So, if not the most iconic, this is certainly one of the most iconic restaurants in DC. Located just on the other side of the White House, it boasts a rich history, including menus from 1910 and other historical artifacts.
The restaurant's design is stunning and truly lives up to the hype.
As for the food, it's good but not exceptional. The asparagus campanelle was amazingly delicious and was my favorite dish. The meatballs were my second favorite. The chicken fettuccine was just average, and I didn't enjoy the spicy sausage garganelli.
The Caesar salad and clam chowder were also good.
Overall, I really like this restaurant for its vibe and historical significance. The food, however, is not particularly impressive.
This place is always crowded. I've come here for lunch twice (on a Sunday & Wednesday). Both times there was only seating at the bar unless you wanted to have at least a thirty minute wait.
It's a well-known D.C. restaurant. The food is consistently good quality. And the oysters are delicious. The scallops I ordered were plump & cooked perfectly.
The real star for me was the key lime pie; that is the best key lime pie I've ever had. I love that it was topped with a lot of fresh & not overly sweet whipped cream. I'd come back just for the key lime pie to be honest.
Oldest restaurant in DC. So much character. The waiter was great.
The big draw is oysters, on the menu.
Reservations are recommended!
Luckily. we only had to wait a few minutes.
Salmon salad, chicken and waffle (with warm smokey maple syrup), burger with bacon, jalapeño that was delicious. Even the fries were good.
You'll want to make a reservation for this restaurant. The oldest restaurant in DC! Regal, historic, and professional are the three words that come to mind when I now recall my experience of Old Ebbitt Grill. I goofed and made the reservation for 3 instead of 2. They accommodated and got me in 20 mins before my original reservation was set. I got the chicken soup - it had a nice kick to it. Like the waitress mentioned. Chicken was cooked very well. It had different herbs & spices adding different flavors. The meatloaf dish was so tender. The pork chop was very juicy. The sauce that goes with the pork chops was amazing. It was probably the best I've ever had. Whoever cooks the pork chop knows exactly what they're doing. The sweet potato puree escalated the flavor and textures of the dish. The flavor of the bacon added texture and an extra layer of flavor. I still think about it, and I am still trying to make a pork chop just as good at home. The waitress kept our water filled. This place is definitely worth it when you travel to DC.
Festive atmosphere that was even more festive later into the evening. Food was top tier, cocktails were tasty - and I finally had a crab cake that I’d been looking for, meaty and flavorful! Amazing! Service was timely and attentive. I couldn’t ask for a better meal at a reasonable price for this area.
First of all, Make A Reservation. Our party of three *did* manage to walk up and get seated immediately without one, but I'm pretty sure that was the restaurant equivalent of winning the lottery.
The place itself oozes with old skool charm from the gas lighting to the funky bar. They've assembled an amazing staff who are both friendly and knowledgeable. And the food is excellent.
Our group gave rave reviews for the French toast as well as the crab cake. The Chesapeake eggs Benedict (with their signature crab cakes instead of ham) is perfection. Also, it's not on the menu, but you can order a single crab cake as an appetizer if you just want to try it.
Great place! Will be returning!
From champagne to oysters to entrees, everything was great. We did a mixture of the day’s oysters and enjoyed the differences. My husband got the swordfish and it was amazing. I got the crab cake entree. The fries and slaw were basic but good. That crab cake though… it’s just lump crab barely held together. Best crab cake imaginable.
