Ok, so the way this place looks both on the outside and the inside will make you question what you are going to eat. The restaurant looks like it used to have tables and chairs but because of Covid they were removed so now it's like a store that is going out of business. The service was good in that we didn't have to wait long for our food, but the guy at the register looked like he had just gotten out of bed, no shower and just came to work.
***Besides, that we ordered their spicy egusi with pounded yam, it was really really good, I loved it. They give you the option of spicy or not spicy. Their portions and prices are good too. The meal had enough meat for me to enjoy everything, unlike other restaurants that will give you only 2 tiny pieces. I will order from there again.
Egusi soup was gross, the fufu too. Instead of getting the chicken with our jollof rice we got ham hocks!! Plantains we’re PLANE-Tains! They were out of ALL the sides we ordered! I spent over $60 bucks and it was a complete waste of my money. Never again.
I moved from the south suburbs in Illinois to Indiana and this is the only Nigerian Resturant that’s close to my house and I’m very disappointed. I got the egusi meal of course the meal came with fu fu that wasn’t even warm the egusi wasn’t good at all just spicy I’m so upset I wasted my money. Don’t go here if you ever had real Nigerian food no no no. Plus I called in and when I arrived my food still wasn’t done STAY AWAY
The fufu and egusi was IMMACULATE!
I ordered the spicy kind and it def have a kick to it, they put the USI in egUSI forsure would def recommend 10/10.
I'm giving a five because the food was delicious. I ordered online and it was a bit confusing initially picking up, but I understand they're growing, but the food was delicious. I try egusi all over the place throughout Chicago. This one is top notch. The meats were tender and the flavor was on point, very well-seasoned. I enjoyed the pounded yams too. I like the last it wasn't spicy because my little like to eat with me, but if you're into spicy you might should mention before ordering or choose something else. No photos with this one tho, I tore it up fast. I will be going back!
Yes! It’s a not a dinning joint yet, so we have to do carry out, but the food is great!! I’ll be going back again for sure
I ate like an African Queen. My food was exceptionally delicious, so delicious I had to stop eating and call back up to restaurant to thank my Nigerian sister for putting, so much love in the food. The best Egusi soup I ever had. Everything was well prepared and tasty. I will definitely be back!!! The workers were all courteous and polite. Very clean atmosphere. Thanks for the Great food and I am glad to have you here in Merrillville.
First and last time won’t ever go back here ever…ordered my food at 4:38 just left the restaurant at 6:00. Never again.
