Best WLM Reviews
Generous, friendly service.
Food that just won't quit at prices that make it worth buying seconds.
Small cozy space inside with a drive thru window outside.
Grew up in the south, and this is the best fried catfish I've come across. Crispy, crunchy cornmeal coating with tender, flaky catfish. More importantly, the catfish wasn't slimy or gooey anywhere.
Cabbage side was so good I drank the juice. I didn't know cabbage could have that much flavor.
Mac'n'cheese side was creamy and gooey but the noodles weren't mushy. It's hard to hit the middle ground between al dente and overcooked, but they've done it with precision.
Spaghetti side was slightly sweet, meaty, and delicious. Equal parts sauce, noodle, and meat, this dish filled me with pleasant nostalgia.
Overall: Salt=flavor and they toe the line on oversalting without crossing it. I would GLADLY make the 2 hour detour off my route if it meant I'd get to have the same experience again. Absolutely divine and can't wait to stop in again.
A local gem, family-run for 80 years according to a local. Went twice with a group, and the only thing we'd skip in the future is the brisket. Chopped pork sandwich is unlike any I've had (chunky, not pulled, and with coleslaw plus spicy sauce). Several sides are Southern staples with a twist, e.g., fried corn, spicy stewed cabbage, or Old Bay fries. Great, down-to-Earth spot.
The sides of greens, corn, and cabbage were absolutely delicious to die for.
If I’m ever in the area again, I will stock up with 10 pounds of each to freeze. They were some of the best barbecue fixings I’ve ever had.
Thank you!
No pictures because I ate it al l;)
Well, it didn’t look like what I expected, but the food lived up to the reviews! Set in an old gas station in town, you order at the window and wait around on basic tables and chairs. It’s a busy place with people coming and going to pick up orders, so we knew the food would be good! And it was. I ordered the “fried corn” thinking it would be fried but it seemed like cooked kernel corn with lots of hot sauce!
Had a great lunch of catfish, okra and cabbage. Cooked fresh after you order and brought out piping hot. Friendly service and reasonable prices.
The food here's excellent. The inside establishment is quite nice and clean. If you go through the drive through be prepared to wait. Everything is fresh made so it takes a little bit of time to get your food out to you.
Ordered the catfish, fried ocra, and mac n cheese and it was awesome! Really want to try their BBQ before I leave town.
Give them a try if you're going through town.
I called ahead of time for some rib tips but was told they were out so I decided to get the ribs which I was told they had. Upon arriving to pick my order up I was told they were out of ribs. The whole purpose of ordering g ahead is to ensure I had the food and not to wait. I ended up getting a bbq sandwich since I was short on time. Disappointing. Next time well there is NO next time.
