Best WLM Reviews

Wood-Oberholtzer came highly recommended from a friend who has been coming here for years and touted their trustworthiness and honesty. And, after years of taking my Cadi to the dealership, who rip you off, I decided to take a chance on a local mechanic.
At first, I thought the gentleman who answered the phone was a little gruff and tried to make me feel like I didn't know what I was talking about because I was not a mechanic, but that is why I was calling, I can't repair my car myself.
My husband dropped off the car for me while I was away for work. Within hours, the car was fixed, and for hundreds of dollars less than we thought it would cost us.
I am thankful for my friend's referral to Wood-Oberholtzer because they truly are honest, and we will be using them for our future vehicle repair needs.
This was my first experience with Wood-Oberholtzer. I had read all the reviews and the shop is right down the street from me so I figured I'd give them a try considering the fact a lot of their reviews mentioned great customer service and fair pricing. These tailored my expectations for this autoshop.
I had an appointment for an oil change this morning and arrived a couple minutes past opening (I was told to come in at 8-8:30 window, I arrived around 8:05). There are already a couple cars that are getting pulled in to be worked on, and there only appeared to be one mechanic on the job (whom never introduced himself but I'm assuming is one of the owners).
I checked in and hadn't been given a quote time or quoted price for the oil change. I had appointments scheduled throughout my morning and was not prepared to be told it would take over two hours (again, only finding this out after asking). I understand the limits of small staff, but it is only right and fair to inform customers about this stuff; pricing and time estimate. This leads me to the second portion, pricing. As I mentioned I believed this place would give me a fair price for a normal oil change. This means around $40, which is what I would normally pay at Walmart. Well I was quoted for $60-$80. A range? Why? Especially since I hadn't requested any special oil and wasnt informed otherwise, this leads me to believe I was not quoted fairly and was instead preyed on for my assumed ignorance. Until I am given another explanation, I'm definitely not going to trust this place or come here.
Perhaps these guys are good for you, and for that, good for you indeed. I guess I am not one of you.
The only reason I feel inclined to give them two stars is because I had asked the person about a noise my car has been making when I turn on the AC. He took the time to come out and try to diagnose it, but unfortunately due to Murphy's Law, my car did not make the noise. Nonetheless he gave a possible explanation for what could be causing it, and I greatly appreciate his opinion and it did seem honest and straightforward.
Overall, maybe come here if you have a good referral and they will treat you better. But I don't doubt the people (or at least the person I met) here know their stuff, I just wish they wouldn't play so hard-to-get about it.
Rick was wonderful to work with. Fair, competitive prices. When he could have easily taken advantage and charged me for extra work, he let me know that the initial diagnosis was not what he thought it was, and charged me less. And he called the next day to see how I liked the results! He's a keeper and I've already referred him to others.
Dropped off my Bronco with a problem I've been trying to fix myself for a year. Rick got it diagnosed and fixed in a day. It runs like a champ now! Fair pricing too! Thank you!
The owner, Rick Wood, knows more about all aspects of any kind of vehicle than anyone else on the planet. Truly! Rick has been repairing all of my vehicles since 1990. His ability to diagnose any vehicle problem uncanny. Every repair he's done for me has been perfect. His prices are always very reasonable. His hourly rate is half the rate of the dealerships!!! Wood Oberholtzer is the ONLY place your vehicle to. Rick also carefully explains his diagnosis and the repair. Finally, he's very congenial and a pleasure to talk to. Read all his reviews.

Rick and Rick Jr. are the best. I have been bringing my vehicles to them for about 20 years or so. They are always honest and straight with me, prices are fair, work is top notch, and I never worry about anything to do with my car. Thanks guys!
A knowledgable co-worker recommended these folks for a full ball joint replacement on my 4Runner. Boy, was he right. These folks knocked it out. So happy for prompt service and fair pricing. Can not recommend them highly enough.
