Best WLM Reviews
Best diner service in Nola - Bobby made our entire group of 21 kids and adults happy eating in no time. Delicious food made more enjoyable after the streetcar ride seeing all those beautiful homes and churches . Great experience!
This is one of my MUST STOP places when in New Orleans. I love taking the trolley, seeing all the homes along St. Charles, and then eating at this diner. They do their food old style.
Order a burger. It is like having one you prepare on your own grill. The person I was with was all over it, "This is like a real burger!"
The servers, cooks, everyone are incredible. They are warm, inviting, and funny. I enjoy the company as much as I enjoy the food. Just a fun place to eat.
The fried green tomatoes are the best I've ever had. The seasoning blend is unreal delightful.
Great gumbo. My friend said their tomato basil soup was the best they've ever had.
That said, I come for the fried pecan pie with ice cream. It will ruin you for all other pecan pie. They fry it on the griddle, making it warm and a little gooey. Then the ice cream is a perfect compliment. All conversation in our group of 9 stopped as they were eating their pie.
I brought my wife along for this meal. It's her first time. She hasn't experienced the fried pecan pie previously. My wife is an incredible individual. She can make a friend with anyone and can chat with anyone. So when she doesn't talk, it's for a really good reason. She didn't utter one word while she was chowing down on her pecan pie, other than a word here or there such as "unreal good" or "so good" or "this is life changing." Yep, it's that good. My favorite dessert in New Orleans and I eat it every single time I visit.
The whole dining experience is just so much fun. Sitting at the counter next to people you don't know, but you do by the end of the meal. The cooks are right there in front of you. The rest of the staff dodging cooks and helping out customers. The staff having fun and creating an enjoyable experience. So much fun!!
Still the wonderful restaurant I enjoyed back in the 70’s. So nice that they restored it after Katrina. Same great menu with eggs, fluffy omelettes, pancakes, waffles, burgers, freezes and desserts. You sit at the counter and watch them cook. Not handicap accessible. There are tables outside so you can order inside and take it out. Parking is pay parking on street nearby. You could take the trolley for St. Charles Ave.
Came here because our first place was our way. This place was a much better choice. The retro decor and the single bar seating top was the best choice to enjoy this amazing meal. Pancakes were buttery crispy fluffy inside and the best part about it is it has its own container of butter and syrup. The Grits was a creamy tasty slice of ham that was grilled perfectly. It was so good it brought a tear to my eye remember when I was a little kid at 0
A wonderful single counter old school dinner located in southern Grecian revival style mansion.
The milk shake "freezes" compliment the greasy american dinner food perfectly. The hashbrowns alone are worth crossing the river for. Last but not least, the BLT was an absolute religious experience.
I highly recommend getting there early as it is common to see a line out the door.
Where to begin. Well, the staff is real nice. No problem with the service. The place itself is cool and unique.
But man, $4 for a tiny cup of apple juice, and two orders of hashbrowns, one order of bacon for $25 total? (That’s with a 20% tip.) And the hashbrowns are pretty much the worst I’ve ever had. Way too much grease, like it was a puddle of grease man. All I tasted was mushy grease. Bacon was ok but it’s hard to mess up bacon!
Yeah, hash browns needs serious improvement man. I just feel like I’m walking around with grease in my stomach that I paid $25
for. You’d be mad too! Thank goodness I ain’t got a girlfriend cus if I kissed her right now she’d have grease lips.
While visiting for Mardi Gras I had breakfast here. The food is simply delicious! They kept the old fashioned cafeteria counter style atmosphere. I hear their omelets are a crowd pleaser! I saw them and they are a meal on it's own. I'd highly recommend!
It's just an iconic place to go for breakfast… We went for a late breakfast early lunch, and after one or two couples left we were the only ones in the restaurant. Great service and super attentive. We loved listening to their conversations.
Loved walking through the kitchen to go to the bathroom… The kitchen was spotless !
Ordered the mushroom Swiss cheeseburger with wonderfully hot fries and my husband ordered a shrimp Poboy that he said was just OK .
Worth the experience and definitely definitely will go back ...
