Best WLM Reviews
We didn't eat so I can't ride the food or service, but we showed up for jazz night. It was lovely! Atmosphere is top notch with a relaxed, neighborhood vibe, yet sophisticated enough to hold some professional Jazz musicians. More than respectable performance, I could have considered myself in Manhattan. After the first set they play amateur Jazz musicians which were also very good. I'll come back for a longer set next week. Definitely adding this to my list of regulars!
This is a nice friendly place to eat and have a great time. I go here regularly and so far everything I have tried taste delicious. I love the free live jazz show and karaoke night. My daughter and I had fun in their game room. This is also a great spot to catch up with sports in the sport bar section. I highly recommend this place. Also the owner Tommy is very nice and friendly and makes the place feel like home.
The food & atmosphere was good but service was way too slow.
I hosted a intimate dinner party to celebrate my birthday here. I food was good and everyone was pleased however it was difficult to nail down details with planning. I definitely feel like the owner should hire a event manager to make sure details are handled properly! Overall the party was nice . My guest and I had a good time.
When you hear "perfect neighborhood bar" what do you think of? Because I think of unfussy food, strong drinks, reasonable prices, and a welcoming atmosphere. Oh look at that, Brightside Tavern checks all 4 boxes.
What's that? Entertainment (jazz night, open mic, karaoke) multiple nights a week? Sports on TVs all around the 360-degree bar? Brunch every day from 9-4? Happy hour every weekday from 3-7? Kitchen open late (I mean LATE)? Music loud enough to take the edge of life off but not loud enough to make it impossible to talk? The owner (Tommy 2 Scoops) makes an effort to know and welcome everyone who visits? Everyone is welcome as long as you're good to each other?
You probably get the idea by now. I can't think of one thing this bar doesn't make convenient. The Brightside Tavern might be Jersey City's best neighborhood bar. You don't need a reason or an excuse to go here, just do it.
Great wings and service. Down to earth atmosphere. One person came in afternoon not sure if inebriated or not but the own himself Tommy sat him down, got him food, then called him an Uber for him. I never forgot that. Good people great food great prices
This is my friends neighborhood bar. I really enjoyed how personal and friendly they were for the exception of one blonde bar tender. Unfortunately she never greeted us and served the other guest before making her to us to see if we were being helped. I really fell in love with Buffalo wings and the blue cheese sauce. This was my second time eating there and things keep getting better. I definitely recommend this bar for game day or just to pre game. They have big tvs and clean restrooms. The service was great except for the blond bar tender but even her her lack of customer service wouldn't stop me from coming back
i had called before coming and asked about a pool table. they said they technically did have one and when asked to clarify they said it wasn't "regulation" i just thought that meant it wasnt up to competitive standards. nope. they had a miniture pool table with itty bitty balls and sticks. it was funny tho and still enjoyed the open mic they had going on. the angry crown drink was insanely good and got me very drunk. the set up for the open mic was actually pretty nice. couple of tables, two booths on each wall and a stage with a piano and all your usual set ups.
