Best WLM Reviews
I was stationed for two years at Andrews AFB and somehow missed this place. This time I am back for a one week TDY and discovered it finally. I met up with a friend who lives near Fort Meade since I was back in the United States. While catching up, we devoured an excellent meal. We started with jalapeño poppers and Southwestern egg rolls. We split a full slab of ribs with both of us taking home some spare ribs...get it? The ribs were wonderful. There were several sauces on the table to choose from. We each shared sides of sweet potato fries and onion rings. Our server was wonderful. All in all, an outstanding meal was enjoyed by both of us.
Here from out of town for a few days and the concierge at the hotel recommended this place. I have to say it didn't disappoint. One of their specials today was the triple-decker. It has brisket, beef and bacon on a bun. Wow was it amazing. Then I also got a cowboy burger. It has a burger patty, ham, and bacon with cheese. I got American cheese. It was also delicious. I only finished half of each sandwich. The fries where crisp and good. The baked beans where also good. I added more of the mild BBQ to add a tad more kick for me. They're sauces are homemade. The mild I think was the best. The sweet one is good also. They have a Bourbon sausage that's amazing but it's costs to get it. Overall I will be back again. The person at the next table had the chicken and sausage gumbo and they said it was really good. Almost forgot. The hush puppies with the fresh hot butter or absolutely to die for.
WOW!!! Incredible Hush Puppys, excellent Hang Over Burger all that and a frosty mug of Root Beer...
Thank You Erick and Susie
I recently had the pleasure of dining at a local BBQ spot in Clinton, MD called "Texas Ribs & BBQ". This BBQ spot can be found off of Old Branch Ave. They serve your standard BBQ items such as collard greens, corn on the cob, pulled pork, ribs etc. Unfortunately the collard greens were out when I went.
I tried two appetizers onion rings and loaded potato skins. The onion rings were decent and the potato skins were loaded with bacon bit, chilli and cheese which tasted GREAT.
My main meal was a sliced brisket sandwich with sides of potato salad and corn on the cob. The Brisket sandwich had decent flavor with a good smoke ring ;however, the meat was dry and not juicy. The potato salad was on the bland side as it needed more seasoning to have a more southern authentic taste. The corn on the cob was spot on and tasted fabulous with a little butter. A worthy mention was the two homemade BBQ sauces which had one spicy and the other one more sweet. I would definitely come back here for BBQ as the place had good service, decent food and it was very clean. I rate this spot 3 out of 5.
I enjoyed this place because every item came out hot and the waitress was very nice. The beef brisket hit the spot with or without the sweet sauce tender. The fried wings were bland but hot. I like the coleslaw, and baked beans had nice flavors. The potato salad bland didn't like the taste. I prefer sweet potato salad. The chicken ribs were flavorful tender and hot. And that's all I need at a barbecue place for the meat to stand out. The sides just depend on how u like it. And for the price, you get plenty of food you gonna have to take home
As a Texan
I'm going to review each item individually because I feel like that's the only fair thing to do here:
Texas Double Decker: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The carolina pulled pork and brisket were both amazing! The meat was cooked to perfection, and exactly how it should be.
Brisket Sandwich on Texas toast: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (not pictured)
The bread was amazing, the meat was juicy and warm, despite getting it as take out! The barbecue sauce, my husband got for me was phenomenal and only made it better!
COWBOY BURGER: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
So the Cowboy Burger's beef patty was decently flavored but was over done. While I did ask for it to be well done I do think it is possible to make a burger safe to eat without being dry. The bacon was literally perfect. The rest of the burger; ham, cheddar, lettuce were perfectly adequate.
Hush Puppies:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️crunchy on the outside, moist and chewy on the inside, everything a hush puppy should be! My husband and I ended up fighting over them!
Texas Tater Skins: NEGATIVE 1000 stars!!!!
These were both disgusting and an insult to everyone from Texas. For those wondering what "Texas tater skins" are (because there's no description) essentially a half of a baked potato covered in non-Texas chili, cheese, bacon bits and more. … my biggest complaint with these is that they had the audacity to name them Texas tater skins while covering them with aggressively anti-Texas chili. Everyone knows that Texans do not like beans on their chili! Not only were there beans in this chili, but it was more bean than chili! In Texas we have a saying "If you know beans about chili, you know chili ain't got no beans." In Texas, "chili" is shorthand for chile con carne, which translates to "chile peppers with meat." and it is an insult to us to put beans in our chili.
Change the name or change the dish! Sincerely, I freaking miss Texas.....
Best thing about this place is the looks on the inside. It is kinda cool to look at. Nothing Texas about this place. At all! The food was mid. Brisket had little to no flavor and was dry. Bean were okay and potato salad was okay. Nachoes were the best things but they got soggy by the time I got home. I would go back for the nachos and eat em immediately.
This was the first time here and it was very good. The ribs were also good the sauce was very tasty. The brisket was good seasoned well and not dry. The Cole slaw, mac' n cheese and potato salad was good as well. The hush puppies were very good. I will get 3 orders next time. The only thing I didn't like was the thin membrane on the back of the ribs. I wish they would take it off so I'm not pulling it from my teeth.
I will be back and I will get all my food again.
