I came here with my family for lunch, and we ordered a variety of food (Mexican, burgers, chicken). The others in my party liked the Patti's Burger and the chicken friend steak, and the French fries were good too. I ordered a Sonoran enchilada, a tamale, and rice and beans. I wasn't a huge fan of the enchilada, but the rest of my meal was decent. The waitress was very nice as well!
I was driving through Coolidge with my ex when he suggested that we eat breakfast at Tag's Cafe. I was hungry, so, of course, I said yes! One catch, "It is to be your treat," he said. He was helping me out by giving me a ride to Gilbert, so how could I refuse!
Tag's Cafe is an unassuming eatery, one that you might pass by if you didn't know any better.
Now I've only eaten there one time, and the one time was breakfast. So that is what I will speak to for now. But let me say it loud, that breakfast was downright, great!
We were seated right away. The waitress was friendly and quick to bring the menus and our drink orders. After ordering, our food was out in no time, as well.
My ex, Rick, and I each chose #6 from the menu, the breakfast special, which consisted of your choice of ham, bacon or sausage patties; served with 2 eggs, hashbrowns, and your choice of toast. He ordered iced tea and
I ordered a rootbeer.
When our order was up, it was brought out quickly! There were no bells or whistles, just plenty of great-tasting food! The eggs, over hard, we're spot on; the rye toast was buttered perfectly, clear to the edges;
the hashbrowns were
perfectly cooked; and the BACON was crispy; outstanding!
Need I say more?!!
I leave you with these words,
Visit Tag's Cafe for breakfast soon. You will be glad you did. ❤️
Stopped in for brunch. The place was fairly busy but we got seated right away. The food was really good (diner food) as well as the service.
I think their breakfast is better.
Classic small town cafe, lots of local customers that seem to be regulars, which is always a good sign to me.
Friendly staff who were very pleasant and attentive without being bothersome.
I had the chicken fried steak, eggs, and sourdough toast, all of which were cooked perfectly. I had coffee that was slightly strong but I would take that over weak coffee any day.
I would go again when I'm in the area.
Great diner for the regulars. The chicken fried steak and eggs were one of the best we have had in all of Phoenix and surrounding area. Really good prices too.
We waited over 2 hours for our meal, then asked the waitress how much longer it would be for our food. She told us that due to our party size (6) we would have to wait awhile longer. We watched other, larger families who came in after us served. She then told us that it took longer for our order because we ordered a burger. We paid for our drinks and left after 2.5 hours with no food. Waitress was rude. I typically go to Tag's every Sunday and get good service. This waitress is awful.
We stopped in one morning on a road trip after a barn digging. Driven by a few times & always wanted to stop.
If you don't like old diners, don't go.
If you like old diners & people who will stop at your table to chat to show off their adorable baby, good food & are willing to wait for your meal to be cooked, go.
Place was clean, people friendly & the coffee kept coming.
We ordered a chicken fried steak, everything omelet & a coffee.
Honestly, one of the best diner breakfasts on the road we have experienced. Their homemade hot sauce was a total bonus.
We dropped around $30 for 2 breakfasts, coffee, tip
The place was really busy but the food tasted great. The waitress was very nice and we even got to purchase a jar of homemade salsa (which is tastes awesome). Best chicken fried steak and eggs!!! Definitely going back even from Mesa
