Part of the Suspension bridge track was closed. Ok area to walk and if you lived here I'd say worth visiting to get away from the city. Casual and relaxed camping beside the river is available and suitable for swimming. As a tourist it's not the most amazing area to hike and the Rivendell (LOTR) arch is a novelty and can make for a nice photo but not much else to see. The best part was seeing the Rata in bloom... they are phenomenal here.

A great place for a short walk or a lengthy stroll. Stunning views and a variety of wildlife.

However, there was a large canine mess directly on the suspension bridge. Many NZ parks do not allow dogs and this is the first time I wanted it to be one.

Beautiful spot for the whole family, dogs included. Lots of easy bush walks, swimming holes, a campground and history. The bush is full of ancient native trees. Very picturesque.

A few medium length tramps. Worth a drive from Wellington. Good shade, cool breezes and an occasional drizzle

The park itself is a great destination for a family day outside. Just don't expect much from the Rivendell movie set. It's nothing like what you see in the movie.

Grest place for family dsys out. Picnic' or BBQ, river swimming, games of cricket and the like.

We just passed by trying to see where the park looking to see beautiful plants but I'm not sure to the directions so we get lost and didn't find what we're looking for and just decided went back home

So many walks, camping and wonderful picnic places. The park is well maintained, clean and cared for. Huge native trees, quiet space, bird song, peace. The rivers are clean, with deep cool pools for a refreshing dip, even when the river is low.
