Fantastic south Indian restaurant in Leamington spa. It's hard to retain authenticity when serving food abroad. Often dishes are majorly modified to suit the local palate. Tried the typical south Indian dishes. Podi Idli and onion Rava dosa. Anant who was taking the order asked for the spice levels and nice to suggest dishes. I must say it's spot on. You can feel the ghee in the fried idli and Rava dosa was roasted to perfection. Keep it up
It is an amazing south Indian restaurants with an amazing ambience and interior in Lemington spa. The service is also very friendly and helps you with all the queries and doubt regarding the dish.
It gives you a proper south Indian food and brings in homely feel if you are from south part of India.
The biriyani and dosa are highly recommended and a must try .
Enjoy eating ????
A great place to eat with family and friends. The spicy kalamari was a delicious surprise and of course there's a great variety with the dosas. Excellent service and totally recommend.
An interesting curry house find. The prices are a little more dear than your average Indian restaurant. The staff are incredibly chatty and super chill (especially the guy who served us - I think he is the owner) with lots of recommendations to share. We started with some dosas with some delectable dips. We felt that for 6.50 this was a little steep for the 3 pancakes we were given. We were specifically told not to order poppadoms (my favourite Indian starter) and I felt a little short changed by this offering. My kothu was lovely though. A bready and wholesome delight that needs perhaps a vegetable side. A feature that holds me back from 5 stars with this place is the atmosphere and restaurant itself. The place smelt a little damp / like a retirement home. The ladies toilets had a lock but no possible way of actually locking the cubicle. The service was a little slow and the prices were expensive we felt for what we had. I also felt the menu could be more descript so that you don't have to purely rely on the waiter's recommendations. This is a nice alternative for your average curry house but needs a little polish.
Went here with the hubby for a date night whilst in Leamington spa and I am a big lover of south Indian food. I ordered the plain dosa and chilli paneer, dosa was very nice and the sambar that came with it was on point! Chilli paneer was also tasty and cooked well. The service was freindly and attentive and delivery of food was also authentic looking. Would go again as food was delicious.
Enjoyed lunch for 2 people. We shared 3 tasty starters & a set meal. Substantial portions delicately cooked & presented. A bonus that they brew their own chai, delicious. The waiter was attentive but not overbearing. We had such a nice time catching up in the clean & pleasant restaurant. Thanks Dwarakamai.
I've visited Dwarakamai quite often.
In my opinion it's the best South Indian restaurant in Leamington.
They serve proper authentic South Indian dishes, unlike many others who serve dishes customized to the western world.
I've tried a fair amount of dishes + a lot of takeouts & deliveries. I can say almost every one of them were perfectly cooked & are delicious.
The quality, price, service is top notch.
Special Thanks to the chefs, Hari, Anand & rest of the Dwarakamai team ????

Quick Facts About Dwarakamai

Dwarakamai Place has several strengths that make it a popular choice among customers. Firstly, many customers praise the restaurant for its delicious and affordable food. The comment mentions that the food is "tolles" (great) and "erstaunlich günstig" (amazingly cheap), indicating that customers find the prices reasonable for the portion sizes offered. This affordability is likely to attract customers and keep them coming back.
Additionally, customers appreciate the authenticity of the south Indian dishes served at Dwarakamai Place. The comment mentions that often when serving food abroad, restaurants modify dishes to suit the local palate. However, Dwarakamai Place retains authenticity, providing customers with a proper south Indian food experience. This is a strength because it sets the restaurant apart from others that may compromise on authenticity for broader appeal.
The restaurant also receives positive comments about its ambience and interior. Many customers mention that the place has a great atmosphere and a homely feel, particularly for those from south India. This creates a welcoming environment for customers and contributes to their overall dining experience. The friendly service provided by the staff is also appreciated, with comments mentioning that they are helpful and attentive to customers' needs and queries.
Another strength mentioned by customers is the variety of dishes offered at Dwarakamai Place. The comment highlights the great selection of dosas and spicy calamari, which surprises and delights customers. This variety allows customers to have different options to choose from and ensures that there is something for everyone's taste preferences.
However, there are some weaknesses mentioned in the comments that need to be addressed. One common criticism is the spiciness of the food. While some customers enjoy the spiciness, others find it too spicy for their taste. This could be seen as a weakness as it limits the restaurant's appeal to those who prefer milder flavors. The restaurant could consider providing options for different spice levels to cater to a wider range of customers.
Additionally, a few customers mentioned that the prices at Dwarakamai Place are slightly higher compared to other Indian restaurants. This could be seen as a weakness, as it may deter price-sensitive customers. Lowering the prices or offering more value for money options could help attract more customers.
The comments also highlight a few issues with the restaurant's atmosphere and facilities. Some customers mentioned that the restaurant had a damp smell, reminiscent of a retirement home. This could create a negative impression and reduce the overall experience for customers. Similarly, the lack of locks in the women's toilets is a cause for concern and could make customers feel uncomfortable. Addressing these issues is important to ensure a pleasant dining experience for all customers.
Another weakness mentioned is the slow service and lack of description in the menu. Slow service can be frustrating for customers, particularly if they are on a tight schedule. Improving the speed of service would help enhance the overall experience. Furthermore, providing more detailed descriptions of dishes on the menu would allow customers to make informed decisions without solely relying on waiters' recommendations.
In conclusion, Dwarakamai Place has several strengths, such as its delicious and affordable food, authentic south Indian dishes, welcoming ambience, and friendly service. However, there are areas that need improvement, including addressing the spice levels, refining the atmosphere and facilities, and enhancing the speed of service. By addressing these weaknesses, Dwarakamai Place can further enhance its strengths and provide an even better dining experience for its customers.
