One of the larger bakeries in the City of Bridgeport. They have bread, cakes, pastries and cookies. In addition this also is a lunch spot, they offer various types of hot and cold sandwiches.
I've not had a bad experience there. But I don't frequent this one as often as the one on king's why (which is great). They have more variety than Madison Ave, more space than kings hwy. I got what I needed fairly quickly. Only thing I can say negatively is they need to clean up the items in the glass display. The thing about glass displays is us customers can see it all. So every cookie that'd fallen out its dish, every empty tray with crumbs and frosting left behind, could be seen. I got 2 black and white cookies. Some cannolis and 2 cupcakes. They were super fresh and nicely packed. Those black and whites are my weakness - "Look to the cookie!"
Waited for 5 minutes at the East Main shop and neither of the 2 female staff even looked at me. I left in discuss. I was the only customer in the store.
I guess 71 year old men aren't wanted!
Tried to call and place an order for a cake was put on hold several times and was told to repeat my order multiple times and then was hung up on. Terrible customer service etiquette, 0/10.
You Motherf%*$er's!!! This is literally the 3rd time I find a bug in my families bread! I say family because I'm not buying it just for myself! I have a wife, 4 daughters, and two sons that i would have loved making a complete breakfast for but for the 3rd time, i trusted in Chaves Bakery! How in the world do you not inspect your product to the fullest detail to make sure nothing like this ever happens and to know that you also deal with the Bridgeport, CT Public School System as well, this will not go unheard or unresolved! I went inside to this location and the lady seemed in a rush. I ordered what I usually get at other locations. i asked her for the freshest one. She swiftly caught an attitude and said that they are all fresh. Anyone who has worked in a bakery knows that new batches get put out throughout the day, and that the new ones get pushed to the front of the display. I’m now home 10 minutes later with stiff NOT fresh cream topping on my strawberry short cake. It’s HARD to the touch. The other croissant cream filled pastry i purchased is bad too. The cream filling is also hard, disgustingly old and stiff too. I buy these from other locations and other bakeries that use the same cream i know what it’s supposed to taste and feel like. Don’t waste your time coming here. It will be money down the drain. The cream should not be crumbling in my hand

Just ridiculously sloooooow. Has been for so many years. Each sandwich is made to order. In the sense that the person who takes your order will also make it. Three people working the counter at lunchtime on a weekday. No kitchen should run like that. Even the East Main St one is just as slow. It's pretty easy. One person take the order, passes it to staff that make the order. Then the customer waits for their order to be ready and the order taker can ring them out. Not to mention to food is mediocre at best and the staff is leaa than pleasant. I probably go once a year to remind myself why I don't go.
