Best WLM Reviews
We’ve frequented CF Cheng over the span of more than 12 years, and as someone of Hong Kong cultural heritage, this place is all about cozy comfort food. If you’re not used to Cantonese style food, some of these 2 star reviews might be confusing, so keep reading.
1) This food is flavorful, and it’s fresh. The notion that this food is bland is borderline crazy and might be a case of Covid taste loss. Even the most simple dish we had (garlic pea shoots) was delicious and full of garlicky goodness.
2) the wait time for the dishes is real. The waiting time is a trade off for the freshness and wok hei. You can hear them cooking the dishes in the wok in the back. If this is a concern, start by ordering some soup and appetizer style dishes.
3) You can get dishes here that are hard to find elsewhere like the hand shredded chicken and the clay pot rice dishes (read the captions for tips). These are traditional Cantonese dishes that you likely won’t find at the bigger banquet style restaurants. They are great! Sometimes people expect food to be exactly like when you’ve had it in its place of origin, and I don’t know if that’s reasonable. With that said, this restaurant is in the top 3 Cantonese restaurants in all of Sactown.
It’s worth repeating. CF Cheng is a staple for Chinese (Cantonese) Food in Sac. I’ve got no financial interest, nor am I related to anyone who owns this gem. If you’re looking to expand your palate for authentic Chinese food, support this Mom & Pop local business. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. This review mainly focuses on their dinner menu; it’s been a while since I’ve had the dim sum here.
I have heard about CF Cheng Chinese Cuisine for many years. But for some reason, I don’t have a chance to try them until about a month ago for the first time. I keep coming back after that! The food is delicious with excellent service.
The first two times I ordered the same dish - the hand sheared chicken with jellyfish. It was so good! I have to order it two times in a row. But I didn’t get it today because I want to try more dishes.
I ordered the salty fish chicken fried rice, hometown vermicelli noodles, and gailan (Chinese broccoli) with beef. All three dishes are delicious. I like the salty fish chicken fried rice the best. I ate too much again! ????
The two ladies working in the dining room are very attentive and friendly. I enjoy my yummy food and thoughtful service as always in CF Cheng Chinese Cuisine.
The dining room is a little dated. But comfortable and clean. The parking lot is safe and it is easy to get a parking space near the restaurant. I know I’ll come back again soon!
Ordered two clay pot rice and both were below expectations (taste like they are not flavored). Cold shredded chicken is good though. Service was super slow.
First time coming here, and it was not the best. Looked at reviews before going and I was heavily disappointed. The food looks better in pictures because it does not taste as good as it looks. We ordered kung pao chicken and curry chicken. Both orders we did not eat. The curry chicken was gross i can’t describe the taste but definitely not curry chicken. The meats were slimy for some reason. The texture was off. Also all the vegetables were raw in all the dishes even the soup. I mean i like my veggies crunchy but these were straight raw. The only thing we liked was the cream cheese wontons. The place was crowded, i was low key confused, cus how? These high star ratings are trippin’. 2 stars and im being generous.
Good food and service. Only limit is dining area. At high peak time is quite packed. Reasonable price. Recommended.
Food is still good. Tuesday night, they are very busy with many togos, long wait. Not a good option for dine-in when it‘s busy.
Pan-fried noodles, shrimp dumplings dimsum, black pepper beef, chicken with salty fish fried rice are good. Recommend these dishes.
My wife and I ordered take-out, the servers were friendly when we picked up our order. The food itself was very bland, everything more or less tasted the same. We ended up throwing out most of the order, this was a big waste of money.
I've ordered food from here a few times now and they never disappoint. They went above and beyond this one time to help out my wife. Very friendly staff.
Hot and sour soup is what we were craving. So we pulled into CF CHENG for lunch. We ordered hot and sour soup, black bean chicken, and two dim sum items. When ordering the Dim sum items, some take longer to cook than others, do to cooking techniques. The service was very good, very friendly staff.
