I’m more of a taco truck, six pack of beer, picnic table in a park kind of person. An “inspired” Iowa-Mex-Irish via Texas menu is perfect for this mall parking lot location. For me it’s as if Taco Bell hooked up with Taco John’s then moved to 1984 and started serving food. A place where you take a kid whose afraid to try Mexican food or the grandparents who’s taste buds have see better days. I came for the happy hour which in the racket of the Margarita world isn’t to bad. Half price Margaritas with complimentary chips and salsa. The good service, friendly staff and nice people watching make this a decent stop for a Margarita happy hour from time to time. Enjoy!
Had to wait to sit down even though more than half the tables were empty. Never a fan of doing that. The first table we were seated at still had food on it and the host thought I was joking when I asked for a clean table.
Other than that, it was good food. The waitress failed to recognize the universal sign telling her to get me another beverage so I didn't get a refill.
I'm from Omaha and they have closed all of our Carlos restaurants. It's been my favorite restaurant for 25 years! I was in Cedar Falls and had to stop and boy am I glad I did. Food was still amazing (chicken enchiladas diablo is where it's at.
The endless chips and salsa are amazing (best salsa ever in my opinion!) plus phenomenal queso.
Also, if you get a salad, try their in-house fiesta ranch!!! Sooooo good! Definitely recommend, especially if you have kiddos. The kids meals are affordable and had descent portion sizes!!
Everything was well priced too!!! And this location was fresh off a remodel so was clean as well! Definitely recommend!
Even with the challenge of being open during a major remodel, the staff still didn’t skip a beat! They were friendly and prompt. The food was awesome and as always, I did t need a to-go box!
I had chicken picardo. Diced chicken in a monterrey cheese sauce, baked with sliced green onions and diced tomatoes on top.
Chips were good, main dish was okay, fries were excellent, service was amazing, checked in on us twice. Highly recommend the blood orange margarita.
The service was awesome. Peyton was our server and did an excellent job. The food was great, came out hot and we didn't wait long for it at all. I love their chips and salsa as well. The sitting is up to the Covid standards and the staff is masked up..
Slimmed down menu but still a great selection! I had the Sancho! Wait time for a table was half what they said. And even with a full house we didn't have to wait long for service OR our food! Always happy with the food when we go.
Food and service is excellent. Has best atmosphere of all Carlos in Iowa. Love their fajitas and pre-dinner chips. Pray they never close.
