Just another run of the mill bar. Nothing special. They also charge males on Friday nights. If ur gonna charge us to be present then at least offer something unique. Otherwise going to any other bar makes more sense, to me.
If you are over 50 years old, pick a different place. That's the unfortunate vibe my wife and I got at the door.
Surely there was a misunderstanding on my part? Had to be! When the doorman checked our ID's and then stated there was a $5 cover charge for people over 50, I laughed out loud because I thought it was a joke. I do have a sense of humor, and I can roll with an age joke. But when I clarified the statement, he was dead serious.
I also understand the purpose of a cover charge for an establishment that offers a live band, or other form of entertainment. This place offered neither. It is a bar, and pretty sparsely attended for a Saturday night. There was hardly anyone there. I would have thought we would have been warmly received.
When clarifying the cover charge, I lightheartedly joked that I was over 50, and had money in my pocket to spend at the bar, and we like to generously reward excellent service, too.
I just couldn't wrap my head around the cover charge, even if it was $1, for us, it was the principal. I want to come in, buy the stuff you are selling. LOL.
We ended up heading over to another cozy, nicely appointed bar and enjoyed our evening with staff that was grateful for our patronage, and without age discrimination or a cover charge.
The whole thing was just odd. Sorry Captain's... you sunk the boat for us.
Great food. Great service. Love their chicken fingers with homemade ranch. They are a bit pricey but everything is these days.
Very disappointed at this visit. Rude waitress/bartender. Ordered burger which automatically is served with homemade potato chips; when food brought to table, fries on plate & I hate mushy fries as they were; asked about the homemade potato chips but was told they were “out of them”-although I arrived 30 min after opening. Stated I wished I’d known that; provided an unapologetic “sorry” as she walked away; food was not as tasty as it used to be; when provided bill, an automatic 3% service fee added although she didn’t know if I was paying cash or card. Needless to say, her rudeness & lack of friendly service, she received a zero tip. Do not recommend going to Captain’s; their food & service is really lacking!!
Came I. Here 5-17-24 at about 5-530. Jeanni (bartender) rude. Speaks to you as if you’re a child. Obviously too overwhelmed for the 20 patrons in here. I won’t be back. Terrible way to speaks to a customer.
If you're in the Wyandotte area you MUST stop in this staple! Jeannie & Debbie are rockstar bartenders/servers and provide amazing service! Each unique with their bubbly personalities! Great food deals for lunch and happy hour prices!
I was at Si’s the other day and I sat at the bar and had a genuine polite conversation with one of the bar tenders for over an hour while she worked. Ask for Ava when you go, outstanding customer service!
