While looking for vegan options for my folks who are visiting, we came across Cafe Desta. There were many unique flavors! I highly suggest that you order the lunch combination option and try as many different things as you can. Be careful though, some of the items can pack some heat! To me, that's not a bad thing. Definitely give it a shot.
Ordered the works for 4 adults (1 male, 3 females) and I would say it’s more for 5-6 adults! It was very delicious and filling, we had leftovers to take home.
Service was quick and staff was very nice. Highly recommend checking this place out for lunch or dinner.
So yummy ???? I really enjoyed trying this place out. The food was so delicious, and the customer service was excellent. It was very welcome, and the piece was fare I would recommend checking this place out if you like trying new experiences
UPDATE May 2024: After quite a few dinners, we're still big Cafe Desta fans. Some of the servers are better than others, but the food is consistently good. And at least until other Tucsonistas discover what they're missing, there's plenty of street parking and never a wait for a table.
We love Cafe Desta. The food quality. The prices and portions. The friendly and attentive service. The atmosphere and locale. BYOB with no corkage fee. It's everything we look for in a casual non-American eatery!

We choose 5 items from the meat choices. Flavor is great and powerful the spice level is just perfect. Also you may think that it’s little but it very filling.

I got the combo for 1. I got stewed beef lambs and the misri. Stewed lentils. The lamb was my fav. The injera was delicious. Everything was fast. Service was great!

This was my first time having Ethiopian and it was amazing! My husband and I shared a combo for 2 and LOVED it! The food was delicious and they even brought out some rice and lentils for our toddler (free of charge). We ended our night with Ethio Lattes and I cannot recommend those enough! The perfect ending to our night. The servers were so nice and friendly and the food was wonderful. I highly recommend Cafe Desta!
Nice little spot to grab some of the best Ethiopian food in town.
The lunch specials are perfect!
