I came in reluctantly asking if they had any walk in availability today, not expecting to be able to do it, but Elyse got me in, drew my design quickly, and got started ! She was amazing and I was happy to have gotten my first professional tattoo by her. Amazingly enough, she was able to cover up a stick and poke while also giving me exactly what I imagined. Words cannot begin to describe how happy i am with this and how happy i was with her! Much love and thank you!!
Been working for a year and a half on my sleeve with Ashley Henson and could not recommend her or her work more. Still in progress but she took my ideas and has run with them and I couldn’t be more pleased! She’s not only ridiculously talented, but she makes the whole process easy and fun.
I was first tatttooed by Ashley Henson in Knoxville, TN. Drove 6 hours to have more work done by her in SC. Ashley is incredibly talented. Her work is flawless and she lays it down fast. She's also super chill to sit with for hours. Thoughtful and so considerate. One of the best in the industry, in my opinion. The vibe at By the Sword is great.
Ashley Henson is hand downs the best artist I have ever worked with. She is kind, compassionate, and understanding of my crazy ideas, which I have many. Her artwork is superior, and I have never felt uncomfortable or unsatisfied with my tattoo experience. I really love this gal!!! <3

I had the honor of getting tattooed by Ashley Henson for a 6 hour thigh piece. The overall experience was exceptional and here’s why: 1) The check in process was super simple. I appreciate that it’s done on a computer so you don’t have to fill out paperwork each session if your info hasn’t changed. 2) The shop is super clean. 3) I noticed in Ashley’s booth there was a color chart with different skin tones showing how cool may show up. It affirms that as a black woman, I can have color in my tattoos and it will look great when done by someone skilled. 4) During the session, she checked in frequently and made sure I was good. We took breaks as needed and offered to break up the sessions if the pain was too much. It was bearable, so I sat and got it finished in one session. I was extremely satisfied with everything and I’ll be back for more ink.
I’ve been going to Ashley for a while and she does an amazing job ever single time. She’s a great person and I really enjoy talking to her every time I walk into the shop. If you’re looking for a fantastic tattoo artist Ashley is the one to go to!
I scheduled an appointment for a consultation. She is an artist I used before and really love her work. It was a virtual appointment, and I totally forgot about it. I texted her as soon as I remembered because I felt so bad for wasting her time. She said it was okay and we rescheduled. My car was in the shop and I was not sure I could make it in for a physical appointment, so I asked for a virtual again. On the morning of the visit I told her I got my car and I would make it in. She liked my message so I assumed we were a go. I get to my appointment early to see she has scheduled a tattoo, a sleeve, a couple hours. I never received a text to cancel or reschedule. She and all the other artists let me sit there for 45 minutes without saying a word to me. Seems dumb to miss out on hundreds of dollars.
Chris was very professional. Absolutely pleased with his work. I will be back.
