Great deep dish Chicago pizza. Great staff. We got here with friends and got a table of 4 but had 2 more friends join us. The staff was super sweet to accommodate us to a different table. The food tasted great! The portion sizes may look small but with all the cheese you’ll feel full pretty soon so order accordingly!
Great experience here. Lots of seating and sports memorabilia decorate the place. The pizza is not quite as thick as Giordano's, but if you like a crispy crust, this is the one for you. The marinara sauce has diced tomatoes too, which give it a unique texture. The small pizzas are 9" diameter - good enough for 2 people. The mediums are 12" diameter. Bionca did a great job serving us, and was even kind enough to put the first slices on our plates. A nice touch for snapping a boomerang for that cheese pull.
We made a reservation for 8:000pm and received a text suggesting we order ahead as each pizza tastes 30min to cook. So we did this and arrived at 7:45pm and were seated immediately and ordered a Cesar salad as this was suggested by the open table text to order the salad once seated. I ordered a beer along with our waters when we ordered our salad. Our salad was delivered then we realized after our waiter walked away we didn’t have any silverware. The waiter Daniel Q. finally comes back to our table with our pizza and silverware. We ask about our waters and the beer. He states he’ll be right back with them. After finishing our salad and pizza Daniel finally brings our water and warm beer, after we were finished eating. Definitely delicious pizza but when they are busy they either need more wait staff or different wait staff.
Had a 2 pax "the Lou" and some bar-be-lou chicken wings that left us feeling stuffed as we walked out from the restaurant. Great food and atmosphere. Looking at the size of the restaurant, it is also suitable for big groups or catch up with colleagues after work.
Deep dish pizza is worth travelling all the way to the restaurant.
Will definitely revisit when I'm in town again!
Possibly the best pizza I have ever had. Try it at least once; you won't regret it. Worth the wait and the money.
While the pizzas here can be a bit expensive, and it takes about a half hour to make, the flavor is so good it's completely worth it.
The crust is nice and thin and crispy, like an artisan bread, and the deep dish is shaped to the pan so it's almost like a pasta bowl. The pizza is made fresh, so it comes out the oven blazing hot, so some gentle blowing goes a long way. You want to eat this pizza while it's HOT, but you don't want to burn your mouth.
The pepperonis they top the pizza with are nice and spicy, so if you get a pepperoni pizza be mindful that if you typically don't like any spice, you may want to choose another topping. As a spiceaholic myself, I loved the pepperoni as it added such a good flavor to the already heavenly pie.
The cheese and sauce are great, but make the whole thing kind of a mess to be honest. The slices for a small were cut into quarters, so it's not like I could fit the slice into my mouth so if you're like me it will probably be a fork and knife affair. Just chop it up into bite size chunks and enjoy.
The wait staff was super prompt and friendly and helped us decide on the pizza we were going to get. Loved the service.
Overall, this is the go-to place to experience Chicago style deep dish pizza and they know it. We went on a Tuesday night and there was a wait. They do good business it seems, and good for them! There ought to be more restaurants like it.
Highly recommend.
I really liked this place! I appreciate when classic and famous places like Lou Malnati’s stays modern in its ways of running business having easy online reservations and nicely designed menu. The restaurant is spacious so they can fit any party in it, stuff is friendly and efficient, and by the rules of dip dish pizza it takes 30-50 minutes to make it (depending of how busy is kitchen). We ordered one individual Lou with additional pepperoni and another small Lou as it is. We totally loved our pizzas. The crust was thin and not too crunchy, the abundance of cheese, cooked mushrooms and tomatoes created super juicy filling that moistened the dough and made it light. We knew that there will be a lot of food so we decided not to order any salads or desserts afterwards but we left totally satisfied by our Chicago dip-dish pizza experience.
We are visiting and wanted to try the famous deep dish pizza. Yes the wait is about 45min but we thought it was worth it. Service was good, one of our pizza took longer than the other one so it was taken off our bill plus a free pizza cookie on the house. Overall a 5 star because we had no complaints, food was great.
I went to Lou Malnati's and the food was great. My low rating is because of the horrible server that was assigned to me. HORRIBLE. Just some background on how their system works before you seated. Assuming there is a wait, which is most of the time due to their popularity, you wait in line to get your name on the waitlist. Then, if you are ordering a deep dish pizza, you then go into another line to pre-order your pizza as the pizzas can take 45min-1hr. to make. After you pre-order your pizza, you wait for your text letting you know when your table is ready. Even after you get seated, it will take another 15-20min. before you get your pizza. You have time to order other items from the menu when you get seated. It's only the deep dish pizza that needs pre-ordering. Well after going through the whole process and then waiting for 50 min. to get my text that my table was ready, I was finally seated. The server Emanuel came by and confirmed my pre-ordered pizzas. I ordered the buffalo wing appetizer and asked if I could have 2 flavors. He first said yes, no problem. Then he says no and says well maybe but it would depend on the size of the order. I wasn't thrilled that he couldn't make up his mind but I just ordered a larger size. The traditional and lemon pepper wings were great. But after Emanuel brought me my wings, he just left, not giving me time to even ask him for a plate and utensils. So I sat there looking for him. After about 10 minutes, I finally spot him and ask for a plate and utensils. No apologies or acknowledgment of the lack of plates or utensils. After enjoying my wings, I wait another 30 minutes before I see him again. I ask what is going on and he says that the pizza would be right out. Well, I wait another 15 minutes before he finally brings me my 2 pizzas. But when he brings it out, it's practically stacked on top of each other where one pan is actually sitting on top of the bottom pizza. Not just above it, but actually resting on top of it, where the bottom pizza has a indentation of the top pan. I would normally return that pizza as I don't know how clean that pan is, but I did not considering that I have been there almost an hour already. He asks me if I would like a refill on my water and I say yes. The water never came. HORRIBLE server. Now the food was great. I ordered the Malnati Chicago Classic and added pepperoni and also The "Lou". Both were great. I also went to Giordano's and I personally liked Lou Malnati's much better. No question for me about who has better deep dish. The sauce was much richer and had more flavor at Lou's. Giordano has a great chopped salad though.
