I am not sure what is up with this restaurant but I think the founders will be ashamed of the current food that were being dished out from the kitchen.
Steak fries. Not a real steak but just the half of the ground beef patty that was battered. Not kidding.
Buffalo wings. A little too salty and the meat is to the dry side. They must cooked it a little too long. The sauce is not spicy but sweet and watered down. Who does that to the sauce? Not worth the price for the mini wings served.
Fries were on the large cut side. Soaks the oil, slightly soggy, and to the bland side.
The salad was store bought and not freshly made. When we asked for no cheese salad, the cashier suggested to have the cheese individually picked out. So one of the more experienced server stepped in to suggest to make use new salad from scratch. They used the shredded lettuce for the burger and some slice of tomato.
The burger patty on my mushroom burger was on the dry side.
The pastrami on the pastrami burger was on the dry side.
The only recommendation I have is for the chef to improve the food. For those who are curious to try, I hope you have a better experience than my family had. The stars represents a negative star value for the food and service.
The food was delicious and ordered on the spot, so it was fresh and hot. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy and decorated retro themed with lots of cool car pictures, and even a stoplight!
If you are looking for a satisfying and delicious burger, look no further than Burger Stop in Layton. Their burgers are made with fresh and locally sourced ingredients, and the meat is juicy and flavorful. I ordered "The Spare Tire", a huge burger with cheese, bacon and topped with an egg. It was one of the best burgers I have ever had. The buns were soft and fresh, and the fries were crisp and slightly seasoned with salt. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the service was fast. I heard about this place from a coworker, and I'm glad I took her advice. This place is legit, and I will definitely go back to try the Deuce challenge.
I tried the Bacon Cheeseburger and my husband had the Pastrami Burger. We ended up sharing and we both enjoyed both sandwiches, though the pastrami really hit the spot! All the sandwiches on the menu looked so good too, but decided to stick with burgers for today.
As we waited, (which wasn't long!) we enjoyed our very yummy and very creamy raspberry cheesecake shake! SO GOOD!
Our kids had the cheeseburger and grilled cheese kids meals and enjoyed their sides of crispy fries and their favorite, Sprite.
We've lived north of Layton for almost seven years now and I'd always wanted to drop by. So glad we took the time and chance to this last Friday to celebrate the start of a new school year.

PS. Super fun thing is this gumball machine in the front. If you happen to get an orange gumball, you get a free ice cream cone. We didn't have any quarters on us, but what fun is that?!
My husband has an extreme dairy allergy they worked great to ensure he didn’t have a reaction and that his food is safe. Food came out hot and fresh best experience in a long time
I literally feel like I just got scammed.
We paid almost 7 dollars for (overcooked) dinosaur chicken nuggets from Costco for a kids meal.
Service was extremely slow. 30 minutes for 2 burgers and a kids meal. There was only one other person in the restaurant with us.
The shake came out quickly and was pretty good.
Overall super subpar food and service. Would not recommend.
SEP 2023: classic burger & shake diner with lots of old time pictures that’s been around for 30 years. Burgers were fresh with grilled buns, kids meals were okay, onions rings were thick and crunchy, and the Oreo shake was amazing! Pricey but would definitely go back on a date night or with a kid after practice.
This is a very nostalgic place to eat for me. My family and I went just a few days back and it still hasn’t lost its vintage charm, classic music, and amazing food. we were very pleased with the cleanliness and atmosphere. The staff was easy to work with and understand and got our food quickly out to us.
