It’s a neat experience cooking your own food at the table and the food was delicious. The mushrooms were wonderful and a large portion. We had to ask for a larger plate because there was not enough room on the very small plate the baked potato came. The food is very hot- somewhere to put the mushroom on to cool off would be nice. Our waitress was pretty good but never came back to check if we needed drink refills until she asked if we needed dessert. We will still try it again sometime!
Black Rock Bar and Grill is my sister-in-law’s favorite restaurant in Tampa. In celebration of her high school graduation and commitment to attend USF, my husband and I co-hosted a grad dinner for her. From the moment we inquired about hosting a private event in the Wine Cellar until the last piece of decor was removed, every employee was a dream to work with. A special thanks to Patrick and Craig for coordinating every detail with me over several weeks. I especially appreciated being able to customize the food and beverage offerings as well as the space. Furthermore, on event day, Craig immediately resolved an issue with a vendor delivery. By the time I called the vendor, he already had it under control. Clearly, Patrick and Craig are hospitality and customer relationship management experts. This exceptional way of working extends to the wonderful staff we had the pleasure of working with. Katie is a ROCK STAR! It’s a rare treat to be taken care of by someone with such depth and breadth of gifts. Not only did she serve three courses to 30 adults with no issues, but she also jumped in to help set up the decor, which included affixing paper butterflies to several dozen balloons. Katie’s energy and zest filled the room with good vibes from the start. Lilly was also wonderful. She jumped on every request with genuine kindness and a desire to delight. Lilly’s calm and confident energy also added to the ambiance. Both ladies deserve much reward and recognition for who they are, what they do, and how they do it. The team worked very well together, which is a testament to the culture. We would gladly host another private event at the restaurant and encourage others to consider doing so as well. The only thing to consider is that cooking protein (e.g., beef, fish, etc.) on a scorching black rock creates a lot of heat, smoke, and steam. The restaurant did its best to mitigate the unpleasant atmosphere in the Wine Cellar during the main course, but if you or your guests have compromised respiratory health this might not be the best option for you. Thank you again to the entire Black Rock Bar and Grill team—bussers, food runners, cooks, bartenders, servers, and managers alike. It takes a village to create memorable experiences, and that’s just what you helped us do. We appreciate you!
Excellent Service, and a fun time cooking our filet on super hot volcanic granite in this sports bar. Slice a bite size piece of fresh filet and sizzle it 25 seconds on the stone, and you have medium rare which can be dipped into garlic butter. The baked potato was terrific, and the ???? drinks were very good.
I went to this location for my birthday and the experience was amazing for my first time. Audrey provided the best service while meeting our needs and requests. She was phenomenal overall and even offered ideas for the photos we were taking. I will definitely be back!
This was definitely an experience everyone should do, atleast once. Things I wish I knew beforehand. The restaurant was frigid and smoky inside. (If you have asthma or breathing problems you will need to get fresh air periodically) Ask for your protein raw (on the side) vs on the slab. This way you cook it to your liking and can set a timer or eat as you go. If not, the wait staff will bring it out on the slab already cooking and by the time they have explained the instructions another minute has gone by, depending on the temp of your meat that you prefer this may overcook your steak, just food for thought. The bathrooms left alot to be desired, they were not clean. The seats had pieces missing from them (how does this happen exactly)?? There was water all over the floor from what appeared to be a leak of some kind. I would think from the higher end establishment, the restrooms would be in better condition. Our waitress was soft spoken, but nice. Food was delicious! Definitely recommend the pretzels and cheese appetizer, the garlic cream cheese dip is phenomenal!! The appetizer is large enough for 4ppl! The "side salads" are the size of a large salad. Portions are huge and delicious. Good Experience.
The food was great. If you haven't tried cooking your steak on the black stone, TRY IT. I was skeptical at first, but the steak actually tasted better, and you get to dip it and cook it in the sauces. Waitress was very nice and attentive. For a little bit more upscale place, I didn't expect to hear the hostesses talking bad about the customers. I get there are stresses with the job, but that should be done where customers can't hear you, which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. Will definitely recommend to others.
i loved the service our waitress was audrey and she was so kind and worked so hard the food was awsome and you get to cook it on a stone/rock by you're self it was so fun for me and my family to enjoy the brownie was amazing
This was our first visit. It's a great concept with fresh food. As an avid griller at home, I was a little unclear on how this was different. Our server, Lilly, was very patient with my questions and recommended a great meal. We had a great time, and Lilly was very attentive. The food was good, and the atmosphere was a mix between steakhouse and bar.
I highly recommend Black Rock as a great date night, celebration, or just something different.
If you go, ask for Lilly. She's amazing.
