It's worth the drive and the wait! Black Otter is a supper club that does not take reservations. They welcome you into the bar and waiting area where there are tables. There is no bar service at the tables, but it's pretty easy to walk up to the bar and get a drink. While we waited, we had menus to peruse. They took our order in the waiting area. Fortunately, we'd hit a gap between the earlier crowd and several groups and we didn't have long to wait.
Once seated, we went to the next room where there is a "they serve it" salad bar. Think cafeteria style where you tell the server what you would like added to your plate (or two). Everything was fresh and delicious. Don't forget to tip you salad server.
For our meals, we ordered shrimp cocktail, king cut prime rib (it was huge!), and porterhouse steak. The cocktail had seven sizable shrimp, fresh and tasty. The prime rib was the star of the night. It was amazing, and we'll certainly be back for more. The porterhouse didn't live up to the expectations set by the prime rib. It was perfectly cooked and extremely tender but didn't have the crust or flavor that I had anticipated. Nevertheless, my adult son happily ate my leftovers. The potato skins on the side were yummy; and I couldn't stop eating them side dish. Finally, the staff brought us a little cake for our celebration.
I think The Black Otter is a solid 4… the food was pretty good, salad bar was good, drinks were good… didn’t blow my socks off but it was good… we were here on a Friday night and it was crazy packed… met the owner Bob and he is an incredibly nice guy and all the workers in the restaurant were super nice. The decor was more modern shabby chic and I was hoping for the old school Wisconsin Supper Club look but overall it’s worth going to for the experience and the food!
We waited an entire year to come to this to use our gift certificate...we will not wait that long to return.
From the moment we walked in, got the menus, how things work, we waited a reasonable amount of time considering this place was packed.
The hostess, bartender, server(Allison) even the salad bar ladies were awesome.
Now the meal....yum...fresh salad, the prime rib was amazing, the cheesy bacon mashed potatoes are to die for. We even had anniversary cake ...surprise????
In conclusion, anyone who doesn't find this place amazing should just stay home.
No really, stay home so we can get our table even faster next time.
Thank you Black Otter for having the kind of business we love to patronize.
I'm not a big deal but I am Average Joe.
1st time visiting. Even though we were the last ones seated of the night, we didn't feel rushed. Salad bar was full sevice and everyone was so welcoming and full of smiles. Atmosphere was amazing for date night. We could tell the staff works very well together and all seemed very happy to be working there. Food... Amazing. Hot Bacon Dressing ???? ???? ! Soooo much food. We will definately be back. ????
Visited the restaurant for the first time. Didn't really understand the long wait time till it was explained to me. Was definitely worth the wait. The queen cut prime rib was awesome and for the price I couldn't believe it. The staff was great and the atmosphere was very friendly. I will most definitely be back and recommend this place to all my friends and family.
Black Otter is a classic Wisconsin supper club experience. We enjoyed some cocktails at the bar before indulging in a queen cut prime rib. Would recommend.
We have visited this place for a few years off and on.
Imo they have one of the best bloodies of the supper clubs I. The area.
My wife also loves their Moscow mule.
The staff are always super friendly and very efficient.
The owners are very nice individuals.
Salad bar filled with top notch produce.
The steaks are next level! If your looking for a phenomenal steak that is the size of your head, try the prime rib!
If you want a Melt in your mouth steak, tenderloin is the way to go!
If you have somehow missed this gem, now is your opportunity to try it out. Just know u may be waiting a bit
Service was amazing but get there early it's fills up fast! The food was incredible!
