Hole-in-the-wall small town kitchen that is a tremendous find.
We picked this place because we were driving late, and most places would be closing right about the time we would reach the next big town, so we needed a closer stop, and B&K had good reviews.
Diane had the smothered chicken (lightly battered and fried with cream gravy) with mashed potatoes and green beans. The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy, and tender. The green beans with bacon were a very tasty addition. The mashed potatoes were seasoned well and very enjoyable
I had the three piece chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy and corn. I actually ordered the two piece and an extra thigh because I don't care for the dry white meat but the kitchen made a mistake and gave me the breast and since they are fried to order, I didn't want to wait to cook another thigh.
All the reviews about the good fried chicken were wrong.
It's awesome! The breading is so thin it's almost non-existent, but there is just the right amount to keep the skin crispy and hold tremendous flavor. The skin was so crispy it was like it was broasted instead of fried. The meat was juicy and tender, and I even enjoyed the white meat of the breast. I love fried chicken, and this is some of the best.
Perri, our server, talked me into the extra seasoning, and I was not disappointed. Just enough spices to add a small kick to the taste but not make it hot.
Perri was friendly, professional, and helpful doing a great job of service.
This is a small place with just a few tables.
Overall, it was excellent.

BKs has really good chicken. The seasoning is perfect. The quality of the chicken is very good. Waiting staff was friendly and did well attending to us throughout our meal. They're always busy, but the food always comes out hot and delicious. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a place to eat in Monroe City.
What the heck! We love getting BK’s while at Maddie’s. Unless you get back to serving next door we’ll stop buying from you when we are at the bar! You need to go back to serving next door! PLEASE change it back!!!
Update, Nice little place with great food and wonderful decor. You can order catfish to tenderloins, hamburgers, even nachos and taco salads, and they have the best hot beef plate around. It's a great place for a variety and should suit most of the picky eaters in your group.

Went here for the first time and is the last time we will go. Took them over 20 minutes to bring us drinks. We were there for 2 hours. Food was cold. I had to ask for the appetizers. We ordered chicken tacos and right before they brought them out they told us they only make beef. My daughter who doesnt eat beef, was hungry because we had waited so long she she said fine. But when they were brought out they were cold. She ended up ordering a chicken sandwich. As they brought out the rest of the food out it was cold. Service was bad. We definitely wont go there. And they were not even busy. It was a tuesday night. Totally disappointed.
My boyfriend and I stopped in on the way through on a Saturday midday. The service was pretty bad but I can forgive that. We waited an hour for our food to come out. My boyfriends was cold. The mashed potatoes were from a box and cold. The meat was not a steak, it was ground up and mixed together under the gravy. The home cut fries were soggy and burnt. The fish fillet I had was off in taste and texture. The potato wedges were alright and the green beans were good. The atmosphere was good but the food was gross and we waited forever for it. The bacon cheese fries were alright. I've heard the fried chicken is good so there's that but we are not coming back. Overall, the food was too expensive for the fact that it all came from the grocery store and took so long to come.
