Best WLM Reviews
An exciting update on this property- it has been fully and lovingly renovated, refurbished and rebranded! The former Benner House
is now Mandrake Place. We are confident you will find the house clean, comfortable and interesting to explore.
Our 5 guest rooms can accommodate up to 12 guests and each room has a private en suite bathroom.
In response to previous reviews- the "creepy dolls" in the first floor powder room have found new homes and now every bathroom features a door! :)
While there is no hot breakfast served, our bright, clean kitchen is available for you to store and prepare whatever culinary delights you desire. Our local, family-owned grocery store is well-stocked and just a few minutes' drive away.
We offer a variety of complimentary coffee pods for use in our new Keurig machine, as well as an assortment of hot teas and an electric kettle for a quick, easy warmup. We also have a 12-cup drip coffeemaker and coffee to go in it at the ready. Creamer and sweeteners are on hand as well.
The hot tub needed extensive repairs and has been removed and due to prohibitive insurance requirements, the pool is now limited to private use for the owners (we live in a separate home on the property, far enough away for your privacy, but close enough to help if needed!).
There is still private, off-street parking available and a lovely front porch with rocking chairs and cozy lap blankets for chilly nights and mornings.
We hope you will consider a stay with us at this amazing historic Weston landmark home!
Beautiful house but showing signs of neglect. I have never posted a review of anything but feel motivated to warn others about this. No resident to keep watch on house so anyone who has a room can invite anyone else into house. We stayed for our 25th anniversary and other occupants came back from bar with guests after 1am and partied till 3am, keeping everyone else in house awake. Looks like investor bought this house and is looking for small income while waiting for this beautiful property to be slowly abused and run down. sorry
My husband and I found mouse poop in our rooms and he heard "scurrying" in our walls. The doll bathroom on the first floor was creepy and unwelcoming. There were several hazardous areas in the house, especially around the porch, and the hot-tub was disgusting. My parents booked our stay, but needless to say we will not be returning. It had potential to be charming, but it was disgusting to stay there.
Warning: this establishment is apparently no longer a bed and breakfast. It is merely a bed. I have no idea who this Sheri is that all the other reviewers are referring to but she is evidently no longer there. Everything is handled through the St. George Hotel a few blocks down the street. There is no on site host and there are still signs posted everywhere about breakfast. No warning about this situation was given to me at any stage of the booking. I even called the St. George Hotel about this and was dumped into a answering service and my call was NEVER returned. Makes me wonder what would happen if you actually had an emergency.
The house has a very odd abandoned feeling to it. Unread mail is piling up, the refrigerator did not appear to have been cleaned in some time. I was afraid to even try the pool or hot tub that were still covered outside and did appear to have been used in some time.
It is a cool old house though I don't approve of the design choices but I feel the pictures represent that aspect well.
Beautiful 120 year old home right at the top of Main Street so within walking distance to everything. It has a hot tub (the pool is currently not operational). The bedrooms are nice sized with queen bed in each as well as ensuite bathrooms in each. Downstairs are numerous sitting rooms, a dining room, full kitchen and butlers pantry area with 2 full refrigerators, keurig coffee maker, all kitchen necessities, and a beautiful solarium room with a fireplace. This place is huge with a full wrap around porch and ample parking off street. It has changed hands in the last year or so and is no longer a traditional B n B but is a wonderful place to stay. While it needs some updating, new paint, landscaping/weeding, etc (that's all currently in progress) it was perfect for a group of 8 ladies as we rented the entire house for a weekend. It was clean, comfortable, secure and very accessible and a great time was had by all. They even delivered fresh apple and cherry danishes and an assortment of fresh cookies to us in the morning! Had read so many reviews complaining about the state of the home and lack of breakfast etc. that we almost cancelled but so glad we didn't pay attention to those negative reviews. People need to understand its 120 years old, is undergoing a facelift and is just a beautiful piece of history. Plus our contact was very forthcoming that there was no breakfast and no pool at this point. Would stay here again next week or next year...and cant wait to see it once the facelift is done!!!
The benner house is no longer a bed and breakfast although the rates are premium. It is under new off site management. Sherry is gone. The place felt abandoned. No breakfast, no coffee maker, no maid service, no fresh towels. Hot tub was swampy. We had box elder beetles in our room. Lots of them. Hope they get it together. A lovely property.
Location was great. Very old house that is able to host a lot of people. Parts of the house seemed a little unstable but nothing too bad. Seemed a little pricey for what was there, however being in walking distance was very convenient.
Stayed here a couple months ago. Could be an amazing property but very dirty and needs some care. Everything is in its place but you can tell it's not cleaned but maybe once a year. Needs vacuumed, swept, scrubbed, etc
