We were in town to check out the murals downtown, and my daughter found this place! The food was really good, the price was inexpensive, the steak quesadillas were better than my carnitas! But I will definitely come back, plenty of room to sit, and the staff is very attentive, the food arrived super fast! Worth checking out!
3/9/24- We came here to eat on a recommendation from a friend. I was happy we stopped by because the food is delicious ????
The place was busy but there were a lot of tables available. The place is big and it has a hall. No matter when you go you'll find a seat.
We had Horchata and Cherry Pepsi which they make with grenadine. I am sure any of the other drinks are just as good. The Horchata is homemade so you're not cheated on taste.
They bring you chips and salsa and they are not stingy. We had five kids and two adults and plenty of chips to hold us over.
The food is made while you wait. The combo choices are big and filling. I had the beans, rice, carnitas taco, green tamale, chicken enchilada and they all had meat. We ordered an Albondiga soup and it was home made with tortillas.
My wife ordered the Chimichanga and it came with beans and rice.
The kids had quesadillas, chicken tacos, chicken enchiladas, and fries or choice of beans and rice. So kids don't get cheated.
It's in a small town with great history. We found out it has been there for 20 years. The parent's owned it and it has a family atmosphere.
We will return and enjoy our new favorite Mexican restaurant, Ayda's!
Honestly I've been here a few times previously and had 0 problem..... This last time everything was watery. The salsa... Cheese dip. Even put my expensive tequila in ice ????
I ordered a plate of carnitas and it was the furthest thing from authentic. My pork had cheese with sides of tomato and sour cream instead of cilantro lime and onion. Not to mention the boiled pork.. I just hope I showed up on a bad day but $75 for 2 double shots of don Julio and un-authentic carnitas just is not acceptable
The manager, Jose and the server were very welcoming and friendly. The location is slightly off the highway and adds approximately 20 min drive time (there and back) but still, if we drive through this road again we would definitely stop by there for the great Mexican food.
I arrived on a Saturday evening just before 6pm. They had a few tables, but they certainly didn't appear rushed. Nice decor overall; looks like a Tex Mex restaurant. When I walked in it was a bit confusing. I had to walk up to the bar and ask where to be seated, "Sit wherever you like." I was quickly brought a menu and I ordered. I got the combination platter #2 (Tamale and enchilada) with rice and refried beans.
I received my food in about 15 minutes. The tamale was warm, but everything else was cold. The food was also a bit bland, but that isn't too surprising because it's in Rensselaer, IN. It was fine, but I probably won't come back.
Decent place. Salsa that comes with the chips is a very small serving. Ordered the 3 meat Fajita plate. More peppers & onions than meat. The flavor was good.
Very good food! No complaints and left full and happy :) they also have an amazing personal collection of plants which I admire :)
1/31/24- my meal after tip was under $10! And it tastes exactly how I expected. The whole menu was actually reasonably costed. Please keep these good prices in business!
