Best WLM Reviews
I have never visited the place but it's one of my favorite places to order in Doordash because of the great street chowmein that they make. This time, I ordered street chowmein with egg along with chicken lollipop and fish 65. The latter 2 items were big disapppointments as the pictures themselves will probably show. The drumsticks were very small, extremely dry and on the verge of almost being burnt. The fish 65 is similarly dry and almost burnt. In addition, the portion sizes of those items were also small. Overall, not a good experience with the food from this place.
On 15-Feb, I have placed a pickup order for 'Avachi Special Chicken Dum Biryani'. As per the name, it was so special and so fun, I literally enjoyed the time doing a treasure hunt for the boneless chicken pieces in the huge tub of rice without any masalas.
Utterly disappointing!!! All I had was plain Basmati Rice, a Boiled egg and a very small portion of chicken with scarcely coated masalas.
I am not stepping into this restaurant for a very long time in the future.
Usually I will avoid Thali as I feel it is too much food and I typically stick to ordering à la carte. But I happened to order a non-veg Thali this time as my friend was ordering the same. The items were so delicious as I started eating and I couldn't stop myself from finishing the whole plate!. The chicken curry and chicken fry were exceptionally tasty like home made. This Thali is a must-try for anyone craving that delicious home-cooked feel.
My friend wanted to try the biriyani in a pot. He selected goat and a chicken. It came with extra hot sauce and a raita. He also ordered chicken tikka masala. You pick up your plates, plastic cups and utensils on the counter. The biriyanis came out, the worker had to open the lids for us. They were tasty and a fun experience. The top was rice and the bottom part was where the spices lay. We wanted some sort of naan or roti but they did not have any available. They also did not have falooda. The meal fed six of us after our appetizer of puri next door.
What a disappointment. We ordered the boneless chicken biryani, chicken 65, chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. I specifically told the person taking my order that I want really good Indian style and he said don’t worry you will like it. Well the food was missing any masala taste and chicken tikka masala was terrible and typical of the preparation style here in the South Bay I’ve seen at other Indian restaurants (this one being worse). The chicken 65 was bland. When I put the chicken in my mouth there was no burst of flavors or anything like that. The naan was extremely thick more than other places so didn’t seem too good. The biryani was ok probably the best dish out of the other dishes. Lastly, I was annoyed at the service I received I paid a 15% to get service and they just brought out our dishes and told us plates were over there for us to get. They didn’t come by our table to ask us how the food is and didn’t offer to give us boxes so we can pack the food (we had to go to the counter). Not a good experience and it’s ironic below their sign it says experience the real flavors which was the opposite of what we experienced.
We have a love-hate relationship with this place. We absolutely love the goat ghee roast biryani but sometimes, in some orders there will be issues like -
- The mutton won’t be cooked (tough meat!)
- The taste of the masala changes a bit (different cook? ????♀️ idf)
- They won’t add fried onions
- There will be more rice, less gravy and less pieces.
However, when they do nail it, the biryani is insanely awesome.
I and my husband had veg and non veg thalli’s today, their taste took me back to India. I find that many restaurants make their food little bland and that’s a big bummer for me. But the food here is spicy and yummy, will definitely go back.
The service here is great, they were friendly and accommodating. Ambiance is good as well, it’s big and spacious.
Used to be my favorite biriyani places in the bay over the last year. But they changed the Salan which is disappointing. It used to be so flavorful and unique with Nigella seeds and a hint of sweetness and spicy chili peppers. Now it’s just sesame based and bland. Also the meat masala to rice ratio has reduced. The size was always small for that price point but the taste made up for it. Sadly I can’t say that anymore. Not sure if the chef / management changed. Sad! Why can’t any of the Indian restaurants remain consistent in their taste?
