Unfortunately, I have another negative review for American Airlines. I fly weekly on various airlines for work and have chosen to limit trips that would require flying American. However, my options were limited flying out of Asheville.
After checking my luggage, I went through security and was notified my flight was delayed significantly. I went to my gate counter to inquire for additional information, especially since I may miss my connection in Charlotte. The gate attendant was unnecessarily rude. When I approached the desk and asked if I could ask a couple questions about my upcoming flight, he said he was quite busy and should just look at my phone for updates. I said this would only take one minute and proceeded to ask about the upcoming flight out of Asheville because I was worried about missing my connection. He got very angry and told me to go back to the front desk pre-security and talk to those people. He didn’t have the time to discuss anything.
I left flustered and upset. Luckily, the lady I spoke to at the check-in desk was extremely helpful and apologetic. When I reentered the secured area, we received zero updates about our flight, which ended up being 5 hours delayed. The screen above the gate was updated once after the first delay and never again. We departed around 7pm.
Overall, American continues to be a terrible experience from most of their employees and processes.
This airline is incapable of meeting their connecting flights 98% of the time, leaving people stranded. They refuse to ever put you up or feed you when they leave you stranded. The employees are indifferent and rude to senior citizens. Overall awful experience ????
As awful as every other airline so it's hard to recommend an alternative. Be careful, the people working to board passengers have a hard time reading words and may ask you to step aside and see another person who may then ask you what is wrong, this is the challenging part since the person who can't read doesn't tell you what is wrong and doesn't share the information with the person she tells you to go see. In the end, it's likely that nothing is wrong but you will end up boarding last while you wait to find out that nothing was wrong and the initial worker doesn't remember why she asked you to step aside in the first place. I'd recommend asking for an explanation if they ask you to step aside so you can kindly read your name out loud to them when they have trouble with letters so they let you on.
Mobile app does not update reliably. Text SMS updates never come. Airport terminal screens for your flights aren’t updating. Your customer service phone number hangs up because you’re too busy. How are you even in business?
I bought tickets in first class for me and my family (my father in laws last trip) to travel from Anchorage to Chicago and then onto Charlotte on May 21st. The flight attendants on both flights were excellent! Nice crew, on-time flights, and overall great experience!
Literally the worst airline I've ever flown. The employees were incredibly rude and extremely unhelpful. Asking a question seemed to be an inconvenience to them. When we checked in there were 4 employees chatting to each other about their weekend and didn't want to lift a finger to help us out. I would rate a zero star if I could. If you want a cheap flight go for it, but if you care about service, pay a little extra.
Really bad customer service and when you call the prompted recording says high call volume and hangs up on you
Screwed me over on a cancellation and refused to even provide a meal voucher. Never flying American again
