1- the prices of the food are expensive but the food is tasty.

My family and I planed a spontaneous night out with our littles to Newburyport on a warm Saturday. We stumbled upon Agave.
The building itself is fascinating and there are 3 levels of seating options, we were seated on the second floor. As walk in guests we were seated right away.
I work as a bartender at a fine dine restaurant in Boston, I could tell The waiter, lliam, seemed new, yet he was kind and responsive to our requests.
We got the shredded beef taquitos which was tasty but dry. the best dish of the night was the Mariscos del Caribe, would recommend this dish! I had the prickly pear margarita which was also fabulous.
No kids menu but my 3 yo enjoyed the dish with me.
She enjoyed it so much, might have over ate, she got sick at the table floor. As a parent it was already embarrassing enough
1. It’s challenging to go out and dine with littles, so it doesn’t happen often
2. Other diners next to us had to experience the stench… we over apologized to our neighbors and staff. We had to wait a bit for someone to help clean the mess.
The staff was empathetic and understanding, offered water, however, our experience at this restaurant when downhill when it looked like the owner of the restaurant or manager came by to clean. He was bright red and seemed beyond angry. We could tell by his body language, no eye contact, no word to us. We enjoyed ourselves up this point. Come
To think of it, I’m glad he didn’t say anything.
With the way I felt leaving the restaurant , i wouldn’t be a returning guest.
Thank you for the shrimp and scallop inspiration though.
Brody recommend the pork nachos and they were fantastic. We love Mexican food and this place did not disappoint.
If your eating outside you can even bring your dog here. Which was so nice to see the pups with their family.

Service is good, but guacamole was too salty and salad wasn’t tasty. A bit expensive for what you get too.
Had a classic burrito from Agave, I pick the veggie option and it was so delicious and they have wonderful ambience and service!!!
Came for lunch during work and was beyond unimpressed for the prices they charge. I got the steak and shrimp fajitas ($30) and my girlfriend shrimp tacos. Steak was chewy and felt like shoe leather, shrimp were tasty, beans tasted like they were out of a can. If this place wasn’t so pricy for the mid quality, It would earn more stars.
We ate in the downstairs bar. The service was prompt and the meals were served in no time. The food, and my spicy margarita, were delicious!
This restaurant is amazing! We enjoyed our first date night since having our baby. The food and drinks were great. Our waitress was so sweet and all the staff were super accommodating. The Carne asada is AMAZING! We can never find Carne asada that meets our standards and this definitely HAS! The nachos were amazing as well. We will definitely return! Thank you for giving us such a great night out!
