They said my hair was too short for cornrows!?? She didn't even touch my hair to see that I had a lot of shrinkage and looks shorter because it had been washed and I didn't feel she deserved an explanation because I could tell they weren't professional. My hair looked short but was actually about five inches longer. She said I have to bring a picture and they could tell me what it would cost. I told her what I wanted and she said my hair was too short. Why do I need a picture. If my hair is too short for cornrows how in the world could they do my hair any other way without taking the chance of braids falling out? Very unprofessional , and didn't seem interested in doing my hair. How do they stay in business? Ladies go somewhere else if you're paying this kind of money for braids. Black women deserve better. We are the biggest consumers in this town.
African Nubian Queen Hair in Henderson NC is the worst place I've ever visited! If I could give them a negative star I would! I traveled there to get my hair done (had an appointment) and was told by the owner my hair was to short (which it wasn't short at all), she couldn't do it because she had on fake nails from the day before! Nobody else there could do my hair! I was beyond mad! I couldn't believe the level of unprofessionalism and stupidity! She had a nerve to try and argue her case to me as if she did nothing wrong!!! No consideration of how far I traveled, gas money spent or just mere time wasted! I left that shop knowing I'd never return again! I actually went on the internet, found another shop in Henderson and was able to still get my hair done by Lala Express Braiding! Lala welcomed me, finished my Braids in 3 hours and I had a very pleasant experience! As customers, we deserve the best and African Nubian Queen Hair is not it!!! Take my word, don't be their next victim!!!
My daughter has had got box braids done several times at this salon before. I would always pay the same price. She is 11 years old, and they would charge me $120 for large and $140 for small box braids. Now every time I have gone back, they go up on the price of box braids.
The lady did my hair was RUDE! NO respect or care for what u want. I will never return if she is doing my hair. never I am disappointed. Please be careful when u go. Ask for the owner or the tall slim girl. The older lady heck no. I would've loved to have given a 5 but she made it a 1 star.
First off, I have always done my OWN hair. Was born/raised by a Beautician. But after having two girls on my own... after doing their hair-mine gets neglected. So, I went outside the box... and turned to these ladies; and it was NOT a good experience.
I wanted micros... but they claimed that my hair was too short for them (my hair is about an inch 1/2 long). So, they talked me into the 'box' braids, and as soon as the young lady began working on my hair... they started speaking to each other in their native tongue; which I find very unprofessional. You know... when someone is talking about you. And these ladies WILL DO THAT; so beware. They think that you do not understand what they are saying... but I knew a little French to know that they were talking about me along with the other ladies that were sitting in the chairs as well.
I was there for 9 hours, and I didn't get the hair that I wanted, but the hair that they had... I went on and accepted it. They told me $180 at first, and then the end of the hair due; it became $250 (because of the length.... really?) So, I paid. (FYI... for those of you who are NOT natural, and have a PERM.... this is NOT for you!!! Your hair 'will' be pulled out..... please believe it!!!) And the next day, a braid track came out from the side. O..... I went back, and they were not happy to see me (because they had a FULL HOUSE and didn't want others to see what they had done). So, she quickly sat me in the chair to get me out of there.
These braids were suppose to have last a month or two. They did not last a week an a half! Everyday.... I had braid tracks to fall out. So, I went on ahead and took them out. I wasted $250, when all they had to say was either my hair was too short for them to braid, or make the braids smaller (but they didn't want to do that... it would have taken longer). And in all, they took my $$$
I do NOT recommend these ladies.... and wish like HELL, I saw these reviews online first.... BEWARE!!!
I got box braids. They were average in terms of how professional they looked. Some of the braids were twisted/had lumps and they were not as long as I expected them to be. After I got home I noticed they had cut 2 of the braids way shorter than the rest. I will not be going back to this place just because the braids were not worth $180. I know people that braid way better for $60-70 cheaper, and they will be longer and look better.
Never again will I ever go back here. First of all they told me one price then when I showed up they changed the price. Then I got my hair done on September 6th and it’s now September 11th and I had six braids fall out. The techs attitude sucked and she had a really bad odor while she was doing my hair. I will never come back here to get my hair done
I have been getting my hair braided here every 3 months for the past 3 years. I have not had any issues with breakage in any area of my hair especially the edges. I get wet and wavy micros every time. When I started getting the micros my hair was short around the sides with just enough length for them to catch it to braid. I now have a bob, and my hair is healthy. I think they donan excellent job but I also take care of my hair even though its braided. I wash it, moisturize it and I wear them for 3 months. I would recommend them to anyone.
