I've been seeing Brenda and Marie for 2 years and I'm so happy. They treat me like family. Marie does amazing work with my hair each and every time. I'll never go anywhere else. I love you guys.

Posting this on behalf of a friend. She went for a cut, mostly to trim dead ends. She asked the woman who cut her hair for layers, texture, and face framing front pieces. The stylist argued against what she wanted by saying that layers would look bad and be ‘too complicated’ for long hair while simultaneously making her feel bad for her dead ends (made a comment such as “you know your hair is really stringy on the ends?” in a condescending tone). In addition to this, my friend recently got an industrial (ear) piercing that is in the process of healing. She informed the stylist of this at the beginning of the cut, asking her to be careful working around it, as even bumping it can be quite painful. The piercing was snagged multiple times with the comb during the cut. The stylist then made rude and unnecessary comments regarding how well the piercing seems to be healing and how she would take care of it by letting it dry out (a direct contradiction to what almost any piercing professional will tell you to do). She also made comments about southside Tucson that felt extremely prejudiced (implying it’s a bad part of town/the hood).

TLDR: the stylist was exceptionally condescending, judgy, unprofessional, and claimed that adding texture/layers to long hair was ‘too complicated’ regardless of what the client asked for.

I have been seeing Marie for 20 + years. She does an excellent job on my perms and haircuts. I have followed Marie all over town because she is an excellent hair dresser.

my review keeps getting taken down, so I will make the effort to now come on every week to submit a review. I took my son to get his first hair cut, showed the lady what I wanted which was a mullet, and verbally told her no to cutting the back of his hair. She proceeded to spray me in the face, she was patient with my son who was confused what was happening, when she finished cutting the sides I went to go put my son down and she grabbed a huge chunk of hair in the back and chopped it off. All his curls, gone, his mullet gone. I audibly gasped and grabbed his hair, she then pushed my hand out of the way. She did the haircut SHE wanted. So disrespectful in my opinion, especially for it being our first experience with haircuts for my little man. I had to pay 35 dollars for a kids cut as well? There lucky I just wanted to hurry up and go cry in my car not in front of everyone so I payed with no tip, which she also seemed very frustrated by, but come one, you didn’t listen to me one bit, why would I tip you money for something I didn’t want. I’ve been told by family and friends I was way too nice and shouldn’t have even paid. I will continue to write reviews until it is seen by that woman and she knows the way that she made me feel. I don’t remember her name, but she was an older lady.

Lenny, talked me in to getting my eyebrows done. I really liked them until the scabs came off, then you could see what needed to be done. Made an appointment to get a touch up and was charged another $50.00 dollars. I am not happy with that. I could see paying if it had been a year but it was weeks. Does anyone stand be hide there work anymore.. I will not be going back to cut and above. When you go in you better make sure what your gonna be charged. I don't care if you pay $150.00 for your eye brows or $400.00, you need to back up your work. The lady's are very sweet but desperate for money in my opinion. If your growing your hair out when you go in for a trim you would think they would cut off the deadends but nope paid $35.00 dollars for a few clippings off my hair. I will not be back. Sorry lady's don't care how nice you are when I come in I tell you what I want not you doing what you want. Cannot help the fact that you chose to pay $3000 for rent, not my problem.

My daughters (4 and 2) got their hair cut here today. It turned out fine, but not exactly as I had intended. The hairdresser didn’t seem to approve of what I wanted for my two-year-old, and so we just did what she wanted since I don’t know much about hair. Also she kept asking me if it looked even; I don’t know—I’m not trained in this sort of thing.

Also, their prices were not transparent. When we walked in, the board said $16+ for a kids haircut, which seems reasonable. My girls just got simple trims—no layering or anything that seemed too complex to me. My youngest did have fringe bangs trimmed, so I can see being charged a little bit extra for that. But I was charged $20 for each cut. That just doesn’t make sense to me. If you’re going to charge more for more complex cuts, I get it. But I don’t see how my oldest’s haircut could have been any simpler. And I could see if they charged more for less obedient children who made it hard, but my girls sat perfectly straight and did exact what the hairdresser asked. So do they just charge willy nilly? Do they ever charge just $16? I would like to see more detailed pricing.

Amaizing place for the little ones. The ladies here are kind, patient and experienced. With reasonable pricing and amaizing service, this is a no brainer if you want to get a quality hair cut.

They did an amaizing job with my baby nephew and managed to distract him whilst clipping his hair which we did not think was possible. Will definately come back!

This place right here is now the only place I'm ever going too!!! The ladies who work here are so kind,nice and funny but they are still very professional! They actually listen to their customers and make there clients leave both beautiful and satisfied everytime!! I've been here 4 times now each time I've felt leaving more excited and happy then when I even came into the store with my hair ideas!!! I had Jessica do my hair each time I left happy and excited to show the world my new color!! She's so kind,she gives advice and actually cares what you want!! Also the prices are great and very reasonable plus it's super clean!! So if you want a place that is clean,has a great level of professionalism yet is everyone is super kind plus great reasonable prices please come to A Cut Above!! You won't be disappointed!!! ????
