Was expecting something different, maybe a bit pretentious, instead got great atmosphere, a fantastic server, and delicious food. I highly recommend 30Hop and look forward to more visits to try more menu items.
UPDATE: New menu has even more delicious options, but is missing some of my favorites. The Salmon Zen Bowl has changed slightly, but is still very good. (I miss the Bang, Bang sauce and Wasabi Crema.
The new menu just means that this is the spot I'll be going to as I try different menu items.
Salads were excellent. Wife got the berry salad and added tofu, I had the Buffalo chicken salad. Highly recommend those. Pretzel bites were good but it was a small portion in my opinion, Good cheese sauce. French fries were breaded, but good. Kids mac n cheese very good. Carolina burger was the only disappointing food item which honestly sounded like a great burger, I think they might have forgotten the sauce, it was very bland and the description sounded like it would explode in my mouth. Service was sub par. Sever was unable to recommend an IPA or other beer. With that many beers on tap all employees should be able to recommend one, even if it's just based on the name. Chairs weren't very comfy and the music was loud. Employees standing at the bar talking were using inappropriate language and there were a lot of children in the restaurant. My review sounds kind of harsh, not meant to be, I'd go again.
This is a tough review. I loved it but had a small problem. The bulgogoi steak nachos are god sent. The crispy wontons are the same served it heaven. The Bang Bang Brussel Sprouts. Amazing.
I heard a brewing in Des Moines owns this. I looked at their menu, and these weren't on it. Get on it and bring it to Des Moines.
Now what was iratating. I ordered the fish tacos. The fish was overfried beyond recognition. Some of my friends wanted me to send it back, but I'm not that way. So, I tried the inside ingredients, and they were amazing. I ditched the sorry fish and had incredible vegetarian tacos.
Overall, I love this place, and because of the food, I don't want to go to Big Grove unless they unleash their beasts from the North East.
Met some friends who are moving away here for a few drinks before they leave...very cool place and the drinks were first rate!
We'll have to stop back at another time to sample some of the food items.
Love the "Pick two" for lunch options- the fish taco was super and I loved the mac and cheese - not mushy or soaking in cheese sauce, just the right amount, lots of flavor with it as well. Husband had the fish sandwich and it tasted just as good as it looked - very yummy. Will be back again to try some other options and sit outside when the weather cooperates.
The service is always good, food is mostly a hit, but it seems like food quality depends on the chef of the night. Excellent choice of drafts and I appreciate the willingness of the staff to offer a taste before final pour. Brussels sprouts were very good, but shrimp tacos were missing the cilantro and overly salty.
Always have great food at 30 Hop! Typically love the atmosphere as well but this night when we went in it was sensory overload. It was a Hawkeye game day which was awesome but a few of the tables chairs would squeak SO load I couldn’t stand to be in there. Otherwise staff are friendly, food comes quick and is always flavorful!
First time visiting this establishment and it was good. Had a nice outside patio area, inside had a cute vibe but also had tvs to watch sports on. Interesting menu options, had the Bulgogi steak nachos very tasty! The house burbon sour was amazing. If you haven't been recommend trying it out.
