Best WLM Reviews
I went here for the first time for a late lunch on a Wednesday after hearing from a friend how great the food and pull tabs were. It wasn't very busy, which was nice. The waitress was very nice, but it felt like we were interrupting her prep/shift close.
The food was really good!!! We got the reuben sandwich with hand cut fries and that was the best we've had in a long time... and we're reuben snobs, lol. For sure a perk having hand cut fries, they're the best, and they're hard to find these days, and not having to pay extra is wonderful. The fried pickle spears (dilly dilly) were wonderful as well. They have dill in the breading, and aren't punchy with vinegar, which elevated these to the next level! (Bonus that they're spears, nobody has spears anymore!) The ranch is the typical amazing "restaurant ranch", you know, the GOOD stuff! The onion rings were good, but not anything special besides being beer battered. The fried foods were not overly greasy either, which we liked.
The seating is mostly hightop tables and chairs, so if you're not into that type of seating, get food to go. The pull tab booth is close to one of the doors which makes it a challenge standing there while people are going in and out, but that didn't bother us much, but during busy times it could be a pain.
The atmosphere is iconic and truly has the small hometown bar feel, which is my favorite! I like that they have 2 rooms with a few "sections". It has high ceilings and lots of natural light. The shared bathroom is down the back hallway which screams OG Anoka!
The pricing is fair, especially for the portion sizes and quality. It's affordable to eat here, which I love! They could easily jack up the prices, but I'm thankful the owner is down to earth and has reasonable prices.
Would I recommend stopping here? Absolutely! Will I be back? Yes! SO many other items I want to try! I'm really glad I was told about this little hidden gem in Anoka.
We found online that there was a meat raffle however we were met with Bingo which was fun. Danae, our waitress, was absolutely fantastic. Continuously checked up on us and overall had a fantastic attitude. Definitely would go back and request her specifically. 5/5 food because the spinach artichoke dip was delicious.
It has been about five years since we have been here. Have yo that we were very impressed compared to our last visit. Can always tell how good the food is based on the patty.melt in my mind, and they didn't disappoint. Perfectly done, and the fries were crispy and well seasoned. I'm very happy we cMe back and will be back again.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, prompt service, and delicious food. We ate the stuffed tater tots, duck wontons with sweet and spicy chili sauce for appetizers. We would order the wontons just for the chili sauce. We ate dinner which was delicious, burger, club sandwich, and beef tip sandwich and had a couple of beers. Good beer choices on tap.
Edit: have gone back multiple times and the food is always top notch. Service is great, even when busy.
Lunchtime. Not crowded by any means. My server was excellent and attentive to my drinks. I ordered "The Tornado" burger, medium-rare with fries. The burger arrived toward well-done and was just average for flavor. Considering it's a monster with bacon and cheese and an egg with peanut butter, I was expecting more to be going on in my mouth. It was just average. Oh well, the fries were EXCELLENT. Crispy on the outside and very hot!
Got out the door for $20 including tip at +20% because she did a great job. So all told, I got what I paid for. It was definitely enough food.
The service here was really great. The waitress was on top of everything, super friendly and made conversation which was really pleasant. The outside dining was also cool, it's nice have some food and watch what's going on outside at the same time.
The appetizers were amazing! The duck wontons and the jalapeño poppers especially.
I had the pub burger for the main meal, honestly it was really lacking though. There wasn't really any flavor and there wasn't cheese in it. Wouldn't recommend that.
The owners really have done an outstanding job with this place. I recently visited 201 Tavern and had an absolutely fantastic experience. The food was exceptional, boasting a menu filled with delicious options that cater to a variety of tastes and pair well with the beverages. From appetizers to main courses, each dish was expertly crafted, showcasing the chef's culinary skills.
I recommend The Red Eye Burger "messy" but delicious.
The ambiance at 201 Tavern is simply wonderful. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The decor adds a touch of swanky without losing the comfortable and friendly vibe.
Savanah deserves a special mention for her outstanding service. was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure that every guest had a memorable dining experience. The attention to detail and genuine hospitality truly set 201 Tavern apart.

It was great to see Shane Martin playing his music. And the crowd dancing along to it and I even got invited to join & I did. The food was great! Perfectly cooked Burger and tater tots! I will be coming back!
