Dan was always very helpful and solved some problems for me on my 1990 300ZX TT that less experienced shops could not address. I was sorry when he told me yesterday that he was retiring and not taking any more work.
If I could give them ZERO stars I would. This man has ripped me off. Instead of being honest and saying he didn't know what the issue is with my car he continued mixing things and my car is now worse off than before. Left his shop Friday, my engine light came back on immediately and once I got home all my coolant has leaked out.
I brought my Z here after it died on me and would not crank. I have been here many times before because nowhere else seems to know how to work on old Z's. They told me it was the alternator and after a day or two they call to tell me it's ready. I pay the $350 that they quoted me and get in my car to leave. After driving 15 feet, the entire car died.
I walked back into the store and told Rick and he and Don came out and looked at my car and said that it was fine and to leave. I asked if it did that when they test drove it and Don said they never tested it after they repaired it. I tried again but as soon as I got on the main road the car died. I went back into the store and explained what was happening. This time, Don took it around the block. He came back and said nothing had happened and that it was safe to leave. However, I only made it about a mile before i was stranded in the middle of the road with a dead car. I started it back up and went back to the store and they continued to tell me nothing was wrong. I explained that I was fearful to drive the car. Don told me that he had checked everything electrical already and that there was nothing wrong with the car. At this point, Rick told me I was being ridiculous even though I was only concerned for my safety. Finally, after refusing to leave until they looked at it again, they brought it back to the shop and popped the hood.
Within 15 seconds, Rick came walking over and told me they found a busted fuse near the battery, and that now the car would run. They replaced the fuse without ever acknowledging their mistake or their readiness to send me away in a car not fit to be driven.
Don and Rick showed gross negligence in letting a 20 year old drive a completely unsafe car, even after multiple attempts to explain my fears. They also showed disrespect by treating me like an idiot for not leaving in the unsafe car the first time. I was not given any sort of apology, refund, or discount on future purchases.
If I had not been so persistent about what was going on, my car could have conked out unexpectedly and put me in great danger.
ZCar Atlanta, Scott Randolph, and the front desk man, a Asian gentlemen are nothing but a scam artist, and the people who work there as well. Was told the car I was buying was able to pass emissions and was in great shape. After purchasing the car, I went straight to emissions, it failed. I took it to a shop where they discovered there was no Valve Cover, but they had in stead GLUED a plastic piece down over the valves, I have the pictures from the mechanic, this was glued onto a turbocharged car, also. Let's not mention, the oil was in the car was as thick as the Tar pits in Cali. I was told the car would pass emissions, but guess what, 1k later and still not passing. I'm writing this in hopes that no one will ever trust these people. We work hard for our money and these types of low life's just take it with no concern. Good luck if you use these crooks
He's had a terrific reputation for being that mechanic you want, need, and appreciate. He's still that guy, "Don"???????????? My cousin and I have trusted him for over 2 decades! With about 10 cars between us.
Z Car Atlanta has a 2003 Toyota 4 Runner for sell with 141K miles. When we pulled a CarFax, the vehicle had 327K miles on it 3 months ago. They said they are selling it for a customer and they do not own the car. They clamined they did not know but I do not believe them since I think they rebuilt the car. They clean the vehicle very well (everything was spotless, even underneath the car) and they wanted to show pics of the under carriage to gain credibility. I let them know they need to notify customers of the true mileage.
I used this service many years ago and the result and price was unbeatable. So many years later I had my car(maxima) towed to them . My diagnosis was $950 and within hours it increased to over $1300 which included tuneup. I paid and picked up my car and within miles the car felt like 100 degrees. I returned and left it again and was told I needed over $200 more for condensing fans. I picked the car up again and it would not pull an incline and had to avoid highway to get home. I had to have it towed back so he said I will have my towe truck pick it up.
He then charged $120 for towing. He repair that proble and another amount of money....little less than $200.00...
Weeks later...car hot again. I returned with windows down and no noise...just hot inside. The mechanic took it to back and came back and said I needed a compressor and it was making a noise. I explain that I just got out and was driving with window down and had no noise. He said it was a noise and the compressor was messed up. How can a car suddenly start making noise from parking space to bay in shop after no noise for miles and miles? He denied it and manager said I could take to any other shop after I confronted them. He said he attempted to work with me and but he only compromised during the original visit when a family male figured got involved.
I now have to replace the compressor. My experience is that you will continue have to add on other parts once you are in their shop. Except for the warranty work I do not plan on returning and my advice is beware.
So I had a stripped spark plug hole and Don said he could possible retread it for $150 so I had my truck towed up there. I called and he told me he was able to retread it but it was still running rough and it was going to be $350 to change other plugs....then he went to $450. I really didn't have the $500 that he was trying to charge me And he made it like he was cutting me a deal but after the first extra $200 I felt cheated. I get my truck and it was still running rough after him threatening to keep my vehicle if I didn't pay the outrageous price. Now today the same spark plug he claimed he fixed popped out!! Now I'm out of $450 and my truck is down. I would call and tell him about it but the way I was cheated and treated....Im not even going to bother. Beware of this service provider....they are Rip offs period!
