Best WLM Reviews
This was our first time trying Yukai, and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious , really good prices & the atmosphere was friendly & family oriented. I don't know the older lady's name who works there, but she made my heart flutter. We watched as she helped an elderly disabled woman sit in her seat and helped her get settled in. We will definitely be back.
My favorite was the rainbow roll. So yummy ????
We were quickly seated, 3:30 on a Sunday. There was a variety of sushi that weren’t bad, and tasted fresh. I expected crab legs from the reviews and website, it was “blue claw crabs” that were spotted?? I was worried about how we’d open them until I got to the table and realized they were soft shell?? I grew up crabbing on the bay, that wasn’t blue claw, nor was it good. Many options were picked over, some were replaced, some weren’t, in the three times my family members and I went up.
We went for ice cream and there was one. On the way back my kid fell from the one step and ate it on the floor. I kindly asked if there was a manager, waited patiently, and explained how we came for ice cream and then she fell. She asked if we wanted ice cream…. Sure, but did you see the sign that’s torn off the floor to note the step??? Zero interest, a quick I’m sorry and then went to get ice cream.
I’m not sure what we expected, but this wasn’t it.
Listen. A MUST visit.
Went to VA Beach for 3 days, and went here for dinner twice. The selection is great, sushi is fantastic, hibachi and hot foods met expectations, seafood was different both nights which made it feel like a different experience.
Desserts were just okay but I never expect much from buffet desserts.
Went Saturday night and Monday night, no wait time and food was hot and fresh.
Price could be $10 more and I'd still say it's a good value. Go and enjoy yourselves!
Ambiance:
I like the vibe here, lots of patrons on Christmas evening. I guess this is where everyone goes to when all other restaurants are closed! There’s a water hardscape when you get through the front doors and a walkway screened with very dated lighting. There was a bar ahead but it was just a place for stuff and waiters taking a break. Not trendy at all, 2 out of 5 stars…
Service:
Service is okay, we were seated immediately. I ordered green tea, they brought out an entire pitcher! Not sure though if two green tea bags in more than 64 Fluid ounces of H2O would make taste like tea or just water. But the cup had dried up lipstick so I had to ask for a clean cup! You have to ask for napkins, seems like wait staff were busier taking dishes away than take care of table service! 2 out of 5 stars…
Food:
Tonight all the fish dishes were not made with fresh fish. Even the snapper that was swimming in thick sweet and sour sauce had slight odor that the sauce couldn’t mask! The fried calamari (where’s the calamari?) was in so thick fried batter that you couldn’t taste the calamari. The only good sushi were the cooked eel and shrimp tempura roll. Everything else especially with salmon was just mushy. The squid salad was decent. The Kalbi was the best meat dish but they only came out in small batches.
Their desserts were decent, notable were flan, sesame pastry, custard bites and tiramisu.
I didn’t try the hibachi station, although I have been to restaurants with more ingredients and meats/seafood selections.
In my first time going to the Yukai Seafood Buffet in Virginia Beach. I have experienced seeing a roach crawling on the wall while we were eating food. When I brought this to their attention they acted like they were confused and said they couldn’t handle the bug right now. When we were eating our food they kept staring at us while eating and waiting for us to be done. The food wasn’t that good at all and they had a little variety of food. The sushi was also warm and didn’t taste right l wouldn’t eat the sushi either if l was anyone. The fruit was old and only a little bit was there for an option. After all the food you eat you will eventually get a stomach ache and want to use the bathroom and leave. They charged too much in total for everything that we got. In conclusion l gave this place a 3/10 l don’t recommend unless you want a sick stomach.
If you’re looking for a place that’s seafood based this is the place. There’s an entire station filled with all types of sushi which tasted so good. There wasn’t much of a variety of other types of foods. I thought there was going to be cheesy imitation crab meat and some rib tips and other foods but there wasn’t. We were also pressured into giving a tip which we were going to do anyway but that was a no no for us, she barely did anything honestly speaking.
This is by far the biggest surprise and hidden gem in VA beach. The food is out of this world and the people are fantastic. Place was clean and very beautiful. Service was outstanding. THIS is your sushi/Chinese food buffet/ habachi buffet location guys!!!!
This was our first time here. OMMMGGGG the food was delicious. Warm and worth every penny. Def stop in for a great meal. ????????????????????
