After a 300-plus mile day ride on our leg from Alpine Texas to Ruidoso New Mexico, we pulled into an eatery named Big Daddy's in Cloudcroft for a bite to eat. As we pulled our bikes onto the parking area, my friend accidentally tipped his Harley over and as the bike landed on its side, snapped the clutch lever in half at the clevis. In my 47 years of riding, I never had that happen! We were dead in the water as nightfall and a cold mid-September rain was fast approaching at our 8,886-foot mountain elevation. After a few calls and text messages to the nearby motorcycle shop in Alamogordo that was only 12 miles away, we were shined on and never got the returned call as were told. My friend found another motorcycle shop on a Google search that happened to be located in Ruidoso, which was the final destination on our trip anyway. As luck would have it, we were able to connect with the owner of Your Mom's Motorcycle Shop, Zach. He had the correct lever for my friend's bike and was willing to make the 50-mile trip to Cloudcroft and replace it. While we waited at Big Daddy's, we finally ate some great food and downed some sorely needed caffeine which was our original intent. About an hour and a half later, Zach arrived at our breakdown via US Hwy 70 to 244 that cold rainy night with wife and kid in tow. Minutes later the clutch lever was reinstalled, the clutch cable adjusted and we were back in business thanks to him. To boot, Zach offered to let us follow him back to the main highway in his Dually. He told us to be aware of elk on the road, not to mention it was now pitch dark, much colder, and a road still wet in spots from the earlier rain. It was slow going for the 30 miles we followed Zach back to the main Hwy 70 on a twisty road marked 244. When we finally got to the main highway we gave Zach a thumbs up and parted ways. We finally arrived in Ruidoso and around 11p that evening made our way to Zach's Motorcycle Shop the next morning to square up on the bill. Thank you Zach for going the extra mile because it's certainly not the norm these days as was evident from the bike shop in Alamogordo. We had a memorable experience riding the scenic Ruidoso area that weekend and headed back home to San Antonio that Sunday. I can gladly report no other problems were had on our return trek. Thank you again Amigo for your kindness and willingness to go the extra mile for your fellow rider. Sincerely, Marty and Leo
P.S. Lesson learned...always pack a spare clutch lever in your tool bag!
It's so important to have someone you can trust work on your bike. I believe "Your Mom's Motorcycle Shop" is just that place. When you find a shop with a great reputation, you'll find lots of customer bikes because it's the right place to go. Just like a great restaurant, their always busy. Well "Mom's" is always busy. But I was in one day and out the next. The other thing you find at a great Motorcycle shop, like minded riders hanging out in the place where your bike is taken care of and you have that common bond for the "Ride".
"Your Mom's Motorcycle Shop" is the right one for my bikes.
Great service, nice people.
They have trucks for sale outside. They tell you one price on the phone and when you go to pick it up they change the price by 10x their original quote. Took my truck and trailer all the way up there for nothing. Dishonest and wasted my time, fuel and money. Thanks for nothing.
Great customer service! I was advised that these guys know their stuff and it was great advise. I won't hesitate to go back.
Came to my house to help.
We finally have somebody in town that knows what they're saying and what they're doing when it comes to motorcycles. He offers roadside assistance 24/7. Reasonably priced and fair
