Best WLM Reviews
I went to this restaurant at the edge of Sarasota a few times as a child, but wasn't able to fully appreciate it as a picky kid who would have rather had fast food. But as an adult...this is a can't miss food experience when in or around the Florida Keys.
My family and I got in on a Wednesday evening where the wait was only like 10 minutes or so, which was nice because this place is known for some pretty long lines (for good reason). But even with the wait, the employees were all extremely friendly and swift.
Each table is brought a plate of fresh bread that goes perfectly with the store made apple butter. I got the two piece fried chicken dinner, and the chicken was juicy, well seasoned and fried just right. I also got baked apples that were sweet and still crisp, and cheese grits that were probably the best I have ever had- perfectly creamy and well flavored. My wife got the shepherd's pie and loved it, and my children got the mac and cheese and the chicken tenders and were very happy by meals end.
We then got some desserts to take home, and they were just as wonderful as the initial meal. My shoo fly pie was one of the best pieces of pie I have ever had, and my wife said the same about her chocolate cream pie and the children with their shared piece of chocolate cake (that was big enough to likely serve 4). Overall, just a great food experience that shouldn't be missed if you're anyway near this classic Florida establishment.
EDIT: Dinner was so good and the kids enjoyed it so much, we went back for breakfast a couple days later. It was either as good or maybe even better than dinner. I had a bacon, egg and colby jack (you can pick your own cheese) on a fresh baked biscuit, and it was wonderful. I also had to get to another side of the cheesy grits (with gouda) and they were as phenomenal as the first time.
My wife got the french toast and commented it was one of the best she had ever had, and the kids both really enjoyed their pancakes and sausage- with the kids portion of pancakes being worthy of two meals for most kids. Overall, another outstanding experience for a very fair price for the area- make a point to seek this place out if you're nearby at all.
Was my first visit got seated right away Hostess took care of us friend got a omelet with cheddar cheese fry potatoes bread and I got the omelette with spinach and mushrooms with that bowl of grits with a big Biscuit and when we set we had coffee and a big cinnamon roll I forgot to buy one at the exit so next time I come I'm going to buy one to go a big one will return thank you God bless
Great fried chicken and kids love their kids selections as well. Their okra is the best side I’ve had. The service was good as she kept checking our table. But it can get really crowded even on a weekday. Parking may be difficult.
Expect long lines to be seated when snow birds around. And ALL Parties need to be there, otherwise you will not give you the seat. The food was good. I got their famous fried chicken with coleslaw and mashed potatoes. My friend wasn’t satisfied with the chicken pie unfortunately. They have daily special so make sure you check it.
They are popular for their pie but I was craving for cheesecake for the last couple of days and their strawberry cheesecake of course not disappointed! Will surely come back to try their pies. Sweet pies.
Service was excellent, they keep checking on us. I guess because they need us to leave faster since they were busy. And the food comes out quickly. When I arrived and queue to get seated, they were even longer line for people to check out / pay but I didn’t need to wait when it was my turn to check out.
Be aware of non cash fee. I am so used to pay with credit card but they charge 3% if you don’t pay with cash. Who carry cash these days? Oops!
This is Mennonite/Amish restaurant so yes they do pay with cash I guess. And I enjoy the atmosphere of the place so homey setting.
Love Yoders! It is definitely a unique experience. The food is high-quality and definitely homemade. Local Amish eat here so when locals eat somewhere, you always know it’s good! They have some great gift shops and farmers markets in the area. Fun trip to Sarasota!
This is our yearly tradition to eat here before our flight back to Pittsburgh. They are always busy yet very efficient. Everything from the fried chicken, meatloaf , and Dutch apple pie with ice cream is absolutely delicious. And our server was top notch as well
A friendly place to get a meal. Our server was attentive and professional. Stopped in for breakfast and although not perfect was very good. I ordered the mushroom bacon and cheese omelet with grits and biscuit. Not a fan of sliced cheese on top of omelet. I'd rather have graded cheese inside to mix with the other ingredients. The grits were excellent but swimming in butter. The biscuit was moist goodness. Add a little homemade apple butter for extra deliciousness. Another at table got the bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich. He thoroughly enjoyed it. The hash Browns were tasty to. Not a perfect meal but a nice experience. Would definitely return.
Stepping into Yoder's was like stepping back in time to a simpler place. Warm wood paneling, gingham tablecloths, and the gentle hum of conversation created a cozy, inviting atmosphere. We knew we were in for a treat, but little did we know, a 25-minute wait awaited us. It was a Tuesday evening, and the place was buzzing! Now, some might be deterred by this, but trust me, the wait was well worth it.
Once seated, we were greeted by a delightful waitress whose smile brightened the room further. Her genuine warmth and attentiveness added to the homey charm. And then came the food...
Ah, the food! The star of the show, without a doubt, was the fried chicken. Crispy, golden perfection with a juicy, flavorful interior – it melted in your mouth with every bite. This wasn't your average greasy fare; it was clear the chicken was cooked with care and seasoned to perfection.
The sides played their supporting roles beautifully. The macaroni and cheese was creamy and cheesy, the sweet corn bursting with summer freshness, and the mashed potatoes like fluffy clouds of comfort. Each bite was a testament to quality ingredients and home-cooked goodness.
But save room for dessert, because the pies...oh, the pies! We opted for the sweet cream pie, a slice of heaven filled with rich, custardy goodness and topped with a light, airy whipped cream. Every spoonful was a pure delight, the perfect ending to a remarkable meal.
Now, I won't sugarcoat it – the wait wasn't ideal. But if you're looking for a taste of authentic Amish comfort food, served with a smile and in a charming atmosphere, Yoder's is worth the wait. Just be prepared to share the experience with others who are equally drawn to its culinary magic. And hey, the wait might even give you more time to anticipate the deliciousness that awaits!
