Best WLM Reviews
Richly historic building that, if you believe in ghosts, must certainly be haunted. Had delightful time chatting with owner and staff. Family operation. Great burger selection, though I went with the breaded tenderloin on special and wasn’t disappointed. Nice selection of bottled beers. Small but well-balanced selection of beers on tap.
Was very disappointed in their breakfast buffet. It was way too expensive for what you got. Potatoes were dark brown in color for sitting too long and no flavor. Fruit Cocktail? Coffee was not drinkable. It had been made and sitting for several hours. Syrup for pancakes was nasty...
We joked all the way to NC about the Ye Olde Shack. But the biscuits and gravy was pretty good.
Good was great. My wife and I were in and out of there in 1.5 hours. It took a long time for the food to come out. I ordered the club and she ordered the western burger.
If you're willing to wait, the food is great.
Everything here is hand made. Nothing frozen. The best tenderloin in Brookville. They don't cut the tenderloin until you order. They slice the potato into fries when you order Fresh Fresh Fresh. Friendly service. The building was a bar originally when established in 1806. They have 6 beers on tap. Locally owned, come and enjoy. This is my first visit. Great place!
We have been to the Shack several times and have never been disappointed. Great food and appetizers, with large portions. Owners and staff are always friendly and willing to engage in conversation if you want. Will definitely be back.
Atmosphere was definitely as advertised, a shack. Seating and surrounding was bits and pieces of the what's left from stuff previously used and combined with holes in walls, disgusting floors, all the way down to the stained and dirty dishware they serve their food on. It's a nice and place to drink if your looking for the run down thing(mom and pop). Server was a very nice person. Just too run down for me.
Everyone was really nice. The food, ummmmm I don't even know where to begin. The bacon was just a big jumbled mess that tasted like rubber. The biscuits were like hockey pucs. The gravy, YUCK!. Paid 10.99 for the buffet. Didn't even come close to to finishing my first plate. Definitely did not go back for seconds.
We were the only diners in the restaurant and had to wait 25 minutes to receive an order of fries and a patty melt with fries. The french fries must have been thawed out because they were so limp and full of grease they were unedible. Also the patty melt was so greasy it seemed like the bread was dipped in melted butter and put on the grill but not allowed to crisp up. You could almost literally ring the grease out of the sandwich. I was totally disappointed in the whole experience
