I came two days ago to get a knotless boho bob. Let me first start by saying I would give no stars if I could. the facility needs a deep clean and a state inspection. no toilet paper and overall unsanitary conditions, even down to using broken combs . Whew the towel that was placed on my shoulders to dip my hair .. yuck !!! Smelled like it was used on every client for the week. This entire experience was ratchet , energy draining and just disgusting . I went against my better judgment. I should’ve left when I was sent into the mall to purchase my own boho hair . My hair is a mess. The curls are all falling out, and the parts are different sizes. This is unacceptable. I asked about my hair's size while there, suspecting it wasn't right because the braider complained the entire time about being tired. She smelled like marijuana, had loud, inappropriate conversations with derogatory language, and refused help when I asked if she needed someone else to finish since she was complaining the entire time. The whole right side of my hair is bigger than the left. This is unacceptable, especially since i showed them a picture of the size and exactly how I wanted it . They curled my ends instead of using human hair through the entire head. it's my birthday. I was at my birthday lunch, and my guest stated my hair was falling on the floor—so embarrassing. $300 for hair that lasted two days is outrageous. I don’t mind paying whatever a stylist ask for but the work should reflect the service that’s being provided. You should take more pride in your work for the price you're charging and the fact that your social media pictures aren’t the same as the work you’re providing. The manager was horrible, going back and forth with me when I brought it to her attention, and then ignored my calls and text to both of her numbers , afterward. I do not recommend this place to anyone, and I'm a braider myself. This is unprofessional and unacceptable. Run fast as you can
I came here for the first time to get my hair twisted. Let’s start with the good:
-My hair was done quickly (almost 4 hours, like 3 hrs and 45 mins)
-My stylist was attentive and did a good job
-You can pay electronically
-My stylist answered all my questions, was friendly and she was nice, good conversation
-They will wash and blow dry your hair for only $15
-They are open on Sundays
The not so great:
-The facilities could use a deep clean and wiping down
-Prices are pretty high ($200 for spring twists around my shoulders - but this does include the hair)
-I am tender headed and my stylist was a bit rough
-I don’t like (and this is a lot of places) that they don’t deep condition and fully moisturize your hair before putting in a protective style.
Overall, I would come again (I wish I could give 3.5 stars) until I can find somewhere better. I recommend blow drying your hair beforehand and possibly buying your own hair too.
Everyone there is so nice . The staff is nice and friendly However , I paid $300 for smedium knotless braids and after 2 weeks my hair looked 1 month old. I’m disappointed . I don’t think I’ll return .
I will not be going back to Yakis Hair Braiding. I've been there several times, but yesterday I had an experience that people should know about. For context... the term "Akata" is a derogatory word that Africans use to insult or speak down on Black Americans. Most Africans will never admit that the term is derogatory, they will try to act like it's not. The Tems "5 in the morning" song came on and the young braiders were talking about how they did not like her music and how it was played out. Then one young braider said "Yeah, especially when the Akatas learn the music its over." So.. for all the black girls that go there and spend top dollar, because they are not cheap, just know they use derogatory words to describe their high paying customers. Take your dollars elsewhere ladies.
1st time there but I’m not even trying to ever go back 7 1/2 hr and I got tried and left I finish my last 4 briads and stranded my own ends. I am so upset that random women would come in off the street and put there hands in my head. Like who are you disrespectful and discussing do I get money back for finishing my own hair
I have been to Yaki Hair Braiding multiple times. The last time I went was the worst time. I was told to come at 10am which I did, didn't get started until 11am which was not a big deal. When my braids were done and I got home, I saw the back of my head and the parts were so big, I only have 15braids in the back of my head. The parts were very inconsistent throughout my head. My biggest problem is I reached out and expressed my concerns about it with pictures but I have not received any type of response about it. I was disappointed with how my hair turned out but more disappointed that I couldn't get any type of response or acknowledgement of the problem.
Been going to YAKI for over 10 years. Always in and out....prices are reasonable....hair always on point!! And the owner is just the sweetest! She and her girls. :) Always professional!
I Am Super Pleased with my Style & the Customer service was Great! Only 5 1/2 hrs. For my Style which Normally take 10hrs. ???? Super Excited!
