Best WLM Reviews
First time eating there, and that was a great experience.
The service was really nice, the server explained everything and recommended things from the menu.
The concept of the place is simply Chinese hot pot with different ingredients, and you can also choose the level of spiciness.
My husband really liked the fish cakes.
Everything was fresh and delicious.
I really recommend this place.
I have been craving hot pot lately and I wanted to try Wu ji’s Mala house for long time and finally had the opportunity to. I got the Lamb Mala pot with 0.5 level of spicy. It was spicy enough for me and I was content with it, but it still made me sweat. The dish included Lamb with vegetables, tofu, fish ball, beef tendon, stewed tripe, pork intestines and glass noodles. They served it with individual pots with a fire going on the bottom. The cabbage on the side provided a perfect crunch to the dish. You can also cook the cabbage to make it soft. I enjoyed this place and will be coming back.
I love Wu Ji’s! I’ve been coming here for 8+ years when I used to live in the city. Whenever I come back to the Bay Area I make a trip to come here ???? I couldn’t find any mala pot like this anywhere, not in NYC, not in Taipei. (If anyone knows please let me know!) It’s special. I would recommend swap the normal beef with Wu Ji’s beef mala beef pot and go with spice level 3. I hope it stays in business forever.
Too salty ! Came here few tkme w/ my ex . First time good , few more time after that hot pot soup very salty , couldn’t eat , even we asked to turn off stove wax , but still salty , come back again to eat still salty soup .
Never come back again !
We love the lamb mala hotpot here. My spice level is 4 or 5 cuz it’s not good if it’s not spicy. It’s definitely authentic and the portion is decent for me. We’ve been going here for about 10 years now and the taste is still the same.
When you go to a typical hot pot, you may expect a big plate of thinly sliced meat filling the surface of the plate. This place gives you a big plate of thinly sliced lettuce.
Don't be fooled by the line and the wait. There are better options a little drive away.
Value / Food - 1/5
$14.50 for a beef hot pot but a very stingy portion. 5 slices of meat, 2 cubes of tofu, 2 fish cake balls, 2 shrimps, and a lot of lettuce. There are plenty of hot pot places (tasty pot, HIT) that offers a lot more for $10-11. Menu items go from $13.50 - $17.50 depending on what sort of meat you want (pork, beef, shrimp). The soup was actually decent. Light flavor but it makes it a nice soup to drink at the end of your meal.

I'm not sure if they were just understaffed or having a bad day. Unfriendly and rushed. Asked if I wanted rice or noodle. Said rice, they brought noodles. Never came again. Water empty.
Environment / Cleanliness - 1/5
Unclean and small. Dust everywhere along their nice and pink sloppily done wall paint. If they don't dust off their walls in their small restaurant, imagine what their kitchen looks like. They stack their plates of lettuce when they bring it out. Forget about being sanitary.
Can't recommend this place. At $15, you would have a more satisfied stomach and wallet elsewhere. Oh, cash only.
Individual hot pot places are a dollar a dozen nowerdays in the bay area. Many of them offering similar tasting pots, except for this place. There are only two options here, spicy (mala) or non-spicy. For spicy you get to choose between 0-5, 5 being the hottest. I personally don't dare to go beyond 3, as any spicier will pretty much light my mouth on fire! Beyond the spiciness, you get to choose from beef, pork, lamb and seafood. All other ingredients are the same and included in each pot. My beef spicy #3 pot was delicious and flavorful, with each bite offering a different taste of the ingredients. If you like spicy and hot pot, go give this place a try, you won't regret it!
Legit spicy, try 4 or 5 if you like strong heat. Love their beef spicy pot.
