Best WLM Reviews
A finer dining experience. I was impressed with the portions you receive. The table beside me had prawns, crab cakes, Brussels sprouts and another side. Half the meal went home in a To-Go box with them. I selected a lighter fare of Caesar salad and appetizer of sautéed calamari. It was more than plenty. A word to the wise, share a dessert -they’re HUGE!!
My husband and I went here on a whim. We didn’t realize until we got there, but we felt underdressed for this type of restaurant! It really didn’t matter though, it was a judgment free place and very welcoming. ????
We had buffalo fried alligator for an appetizer, lobster tail (him), jumbo prawns (me), and a shareable side of truffle fries. Also, a raspberry tiramisu for dessert. Aside from the lobster tail (it was a little bit on the smaller side), the portion sizes are very generous.
The food was great! I had never been a fan of bleu cheese dressing before, but I absolutely love the house bleu cheese they serve with the fried alligator. I also love the à la carte entrée and shareable sides to choose from to customize your meal. It makes it feel a little more cozy, like you’re sitting down to a family meal.
Our waiter (Dylan) was amazing. Very attentive and very friendly. The manager was amazing too. She made personal appearances at every table to say hello and to make sure the dining experience was enjoyable.
There were a few cons. We think the atmosphere could be improved by dimming the lights a little bit. Also, while nice that we never had to worry about running out of something to drink, we think the host came by a little too frequently to ask if we needed more water. Small cons in our book, more like personal preferences. ????
The food and fine dining experience here are worth it, and we will absolutely come back again!
I was disappointed that they didn’t have the lamb chops that I was craving for a long time. Not all items that is on their menu is always available I guess. My hamburger was rare and bloody when I cut it and not medium rare as it should. The chef probably did not temp it out or the waitress did not hear me saying medium rare? It was probably a miscommunication.
We had raw oysters (5/5), french fries (4/5), hamburgers (3/5), lobster bisque (5/5), wine, Iced tea, NY steaks (3/5), and mac and cheese (5/5).
Atmosphere was awesome!
I really hate to write a bad review. Service was good. Was nothing special. Honestly, I can’t believe people pay the prices they charge. $40 for a chicken breast. Nothing special. $50 for a pork chop. Seriously? Really no comparison to Perry’s Steak house pork chop for $49! See Perry’s pork chop in photo. To make the experience even worse, there was 3 electrical contractors at the bar in work clothes using the F word about every 4th word. Not impressed. Felt like I was dining at a Ponderosa. Steak was about same quality.
I’ve been visiting Ottumwa, IA for work over the last couple months and Wissota Chophouse kept coming up as somewhere I needed to try. Finally decided to treat myself and it did not disappoint! The steak was cooked to perfection, their beer and wine lists were excellent, and the staff could not have been more accommodating and friendly. Whether you live here or just passing through, do yourself a favor and dine here. You won’t be let down!
Excellent dining experience and tasty foods. Sea bass was the culinary highlight here.
Amazing service, I can't emphasize this enough, as it's a rare feat this day and age.
Probably the best part of dining here is the attention to Iowa craft beers and the ability to get flights. Management stopped by table and we spoke of her strategy to rotate Iowa local beers on tap. Am really pleased to see this establishment in Ottumwa. Keep up the great work!
We had an excellent time! Came here for our Anniversary and will definitely be coming back! The host was prompt and was able to seat us right away even though we didn’t have a reservation. Our server, Jacki, was so friendly and helpful with food and drink selections. The manager checked on us multiple times and made sure everything was to our liking. The food and drinks were delicious, one of the best bloody mary’s I’ve had in town! So glad Ottumwa has a place like this.
Took my mom here for Mother’s day. Had a great time. Arrive and vibe was very genuine and down to earth. Food was top tier and well worth every penny. Lots of options and large portions. Also, lots of seating options. Michelle the manager checked on us frequently made us feel important. I’m a minority so that was unusual. Lots of times I go to restaurants and we watch them serve people that came in after us before us. Michelle gave my mom a hug! This was a memory I’ll never forget.
