Spent one day on the Gila River. Great picnic spots and the water level was really good for swimming/tubing. Water is flowing fast so you need to keep an eye on smaller children.
There are public restrooms but I didn't use them as I had my own trailer. There is also an overnight charge but it is posted. I will update this later with the amount.
Winklemans one of the most polluted towns in america . It's open waste rock piles are great for rock hounding . I love small towns like this it's interesting .
We had a wonderful weekend, camped out Saturday night and had some fun in the river Sunday. Love the fact that they had porta potties and water will definitely return.
Winkleman flats state park is finally open to RV and camping. Had a blast.
Nice camp area with a pretty river. But, the toilets were locked 2 hrs early, my son found a crack pipe, and there is trash all over the grass.
To me the big draw is camping next to the river. Be warned the water is COLD! There is ample room for kids to run around. Shade trees here and there. Nice store and gas on top of the hill.
This campground has a lot of potential. However, it seems the care being provided allows for a lot of garbage being dumped. Overall this place is dirty and unkept. The bathroom is disgusting and overflowing. The river is enjoyable and the views are nice.
We love taking the kids to the river! In the summer it gets obnoxiously loud with people coming in for the day but camping is great in the fall. Beautiful sunsets over the water and trees. Campsites can be a bit messy. Nice playground. Bathrooms and showers available. $10 per night payable to the camp host.
