Best WLM Reviews
It was an expensive, bland meal.
My date got the prime rib with a double side of the veg and a salad, I got the filet mignon with veg and fries and we had the scallops for an appetizer
Starting, my date got her salad and it came out and was a small handful of mixed lettuce on a plate with a wedge of suuuuper under ripe tomato. The tomato had no juice, just solid all the way through.
We were told that green beans were the veg, we were served broccoli (which was a step away from raw), and as it was served we were apologized to for it not being asparagus(????) To their credit they did ask if we wanted to sub something out for the veg since it wasn't what was stated.
My date said that the prime rib was ok but was more expensive than a steakhouse and not as good. My filet($29) was cooked to temp but the outside was oddly dry??? It was also without seasoning l. The only thing that saved it was asking for a second side of au jus. Overall it was a very bland meal.
The scallops($18) however, came out in a shell full of a delicious cheese sauce and were cooked perfectly. I really liked them, but for $6 per scallop, I don't think I could ever justify buying them again.
The environment made it so that sound doesn't echo and because there weren't a lot of people there on a Monday night, it made the place feel very liminal space-y. The staff experience was a little off for us as well but I won't go into it because it seems like the waitress was newer and still getting used to it.
It was a very awkward experience. The atmosphere was cool, but the prices said "we take ourselves seriously." The folded napkins and silverware placement gave a high brow affectation, but the paper place mats, the mountain of butter packets for two rolls, and the modern music said "Were not sure what we're doing."
Outstanding service. She was really good! Had the appetizer devils on horseback which were good.. Husband had the orange roughy which he said was bland. I had the fried walleye and couldn't eat it all. We were traveling through but would eat there again.
We had a absolutely wonderful dinner tonight! Prime rib was as good as any I have ever had! Delicious! Our server was excellent! Broccoli was just a little undercooked. Cinnamon Rolls served with the dinner was a delicious!
If I could give a negative 0 stars I would. Before we arrived we called and confirmed that they had east coast oysters. When we arrived and were ready to place our order with Natalie, she told us that the mussels were from the east coast but not the oysters. A member of our party decided to leave but me and my other friend were trying to see what else we could get off of the menu and Natalie, as I was reaching for my water to sip, literally snatched up our menus and all three waters. Like, what? Then a member from our party walked back in and Natalie was discussing with the entire restaurant that and I quote, “They wanted to leave.” First off, where do they snatch up menus and waters because one person decided to leave. Second, why is this a conversation for the entire restaurant? Thirdly, the two of us only got up because Natalie snatched up our menus. Upon arriving, we were greeted nicely and even the other waitress/ bartender who was working at the bar who confirmed Natalie's name to me was nice. I am beyond appalled. Also to note we were the only people who looked like us in the building. I am calling corporate.
Fist time eating here and I never knew this place was here. A HIDDEN GEM! Ask for Lorie, she did an awesome job taking care of us! The food was EXCELLENT AND ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE! Very inexpensive high quality food!
Came up to Windward Passage tonight after reading some reviews online. I will tell you it was 100% worth the 45 minute drive.
We ate the Coquille St Jacques as an appetizer and it was THE BEST!!! Sorry I didn’t get a picture of that. My husband ordered the prime rib & crab legs and loved it! I ordered the filet and lobster tail which was also amazing!! Steaks were cooked perfectly.
It is not a big place and they open at 4pm. We arrived at 530 and it was already packed. So we recommend getting there early if you don’t want to wait. The staff was outstanding. Our waitress Lori told us they have been open for 50 years!! They are cooking great food and serving people right.
If you’re looking for a great seafood restaurant check out Windward Passage. You will not be disappointed!
Windward Passage might be my favorite restaurant in Columbus. The service is always, always great and the food is consistently delicious. Friday and Saturday nights are the best nights to go because there are complimentary cinnamon rolls!! I love Waldorf salad and I don't know of anywhere else to get it. We got friend shrimp and shrimp scampi - yum - and the oysters remmick.
I was hoping for a great meal here but we didn't make it past a seating issue. First off do not go here with more than 8 people and ask to sit together they will not accommodate, told us it was a health code violation, I don't think so. The waitress of 14 years was extremely rude about it, she should consider another line of work. The manager did apologize but it was clearly not genuine. This place has been around for a long time and has mostly an older regular customer base. The restaurant is small, crowded, and very loud. I've heard mixed reviews on service and food quality and unfortunately agree that at least the customer service is terrible. On a positive note we did have a wonderful dinner at Nicola across the street. I would not recommend Windward Passage.
