Best WLM Reviews
Tried the nachos, Italian beef egg rolls, jalapeño poppers, Italian beef and burger. Everything was amazing!! Sooo delicious.
The food. The menu is a dinky piece of laminated paper. It just says things like “Reuben”. What it doesn’t say: rumor has it the Tavern has acquired the services of a professional chef who formerly worked in the Signature Restaurant / 95th floor Hancock building, and he’s running things here like a five star Michelin. When I got the Reuben, it didn’t just look good. It looked “plated”. Every fry perfectly fried and placed. I don’t even like Reubens that much but this one was amazing. LOOK AT IT. ITS A MASTAPIECE. savory corned beef and left the memory of perfectly buttered rye on my palate. WHAT IS THIS PLACE !?!
Friendly neighborhood Southside bar atmosphere, just expected normal bar food. The burger was house made perfectly cooked, medium and juicy, two slices of cheese, bright red tomatoes and the chef had homemade pickles. It was delicious! Hubby got the ribs, loved them, and I gobbled up the homemade potato salad. Perfect lunch on a Saturday afternoon for us. Belly up to the bar, chat with the folks and give it a try!
Whoever said this place is nothing special has never tried the food lol.
This place has the dive-bar vibe, but the staff are also very friendly and the service I experienced when I visited was excellent! But my biggest surprise was the food. My goodness, I didn't expect the quality and presentation of the dishes we were presented. My praise definitely goes to the chef for some very delicous chile rellenos. His take on a dish close to my heart warmed me up through and through, and left me wanting more. Absolutely worth the trip and the calories!
If you're not sure if you should give this place a try, ask your self if you enjoy a place with kind staff, and delicious food. If the answer is yes, give it a try!
The place is nothing special, but when 10+ people show at a bar (across from a cemetery) shortly after noon and get great service, that says a lot! The person we lost liked Old Style. The bartender brought a bottle of Old Style and a dozen shot glasses.
Great food. Bartender Eric was very cool.
Great local spot with amazing food and prices. All of the bartenders are fantastic. Special shout out to Donna, Denise and Kylie. Top tier southside bartenders who make you feel like family. 10/10
Food is mediocre. Chicken wrap was dry because they give you the dressing on the side instead of mixing it with all the goodies inside. Sweet potato fries were awful. But the worst part of this visit was that the bartender added shots to my tab, probably thinking I wouldn't notice. However, not one person in my group of 7 ordered any shots. Be sure to bring cash as they don't allow you to add tips when paying by card. ????
